People who know how to understand and listen to his albums, will agree that each of his albums are all masterpieces. Each with different character and color of lyrics and creativity.

agreed, at first I was a bit weirded out by Born and Raised being too county-ish, but with a couple of listens I came to love it, and the last album as well

I too was turned off by how country-ish BnR was but after going through a similar crash through life I understood why that album was made. Its a masterpiece and easily his best writing.

I agree with everyone about B&R. I still think Paradise Valley is his weakest effort, but it's not a bad album.
@samcrocker51426 жыл бұрын
I'm so glad B&R is getting recognized more, it's been my favorite album of his ever since I heard it. Don't get me wrong, I love pretty much everything he's done as well, (Continuum/WTLI are FANTASTIC) but I just feel like there's a depth and honesty to Born and Raised that really got to me.

Michael Jenkins I was very lucky to get tickets. I'll tell you the story:D So he planned a concert on the 22th. Sold out in 3 min -> didn't have the change to get tickets. THEN HE PLANNED ANOTHER ONE the 23th. sold out in 3 mins -> couldn't get any tickets. THEN HE DEDICED TO PLAN ANOTHER CONCERT on the 24th. sold out in 3min, couldn't get any tickets.... But then my girlfriend at the time came up with like 4 tickets and we went with 2 friends of her and us. We broke up but I'm her forever grateful for that!

He posted a video on Instagram talking about the inspiration for this song, about his 1st girlfriend at 15 and the only girlfriend he had before he became famous. He looked her up recently, and found her on Facebook, now married with family. He said he even cried then. His story made me think about my first real girlfriend in college, whom I had lost touch with. For me, it's about nostalgia, about what might have been, but it's all part of the maturity process. His music makes me feel less alone about some things, like we all share common human experiences.

@hectorortega8487 sure! and its about choices, like, you can't handle everything, we have to pick only one thing at time, and maybe waste the others.

I think John is at his peak right now. He came a long way from writing chick flick songs like “Your body is a wonderland” to something so meaningfull and permanent like this tune. Good artist will always progress, but I think only the few reach the level on which he is now. God bless him, may there be much more good music in him still to come.

yknow he was writing a lot of cool stuff with depth at that time too. just check out "3x5" or "83" on that same album - Room for Squares.

Appreciating JM's artistry in 2022! Time stands still for this man. His storytelling skills are speaking as loudly as ever in this sweet little tune where he displays love through the eyes of a 15 year old boy. He leaves a lot to the imagination. So the listener can pretty much fill in the blanks with their own variations, since we all pretty much have one of these to relate to during our own 'wonder years.' This relatability creates the magic of this song's special appeal. JM, you are undeniably A Genius, A Master, The Man and THE KING ❣💡🌟💎👑

he comes off initially as a douche, i got the same impression too, the first i ever saw of john mayer when he covered My sweet lord, it pissed me off that he didnt do the whole song and cut off the sanskrit phrases in the third part of the song, but i discovered his music and im such a massive fan now, Stop this train, gravity, slowdancing in a burning room, body is a wonderland, perfectly lonely, dear marie, queen of california, shadow days, who says, are all amazingly well written and moving songs. So the initial impression u get of him as a person is understandable, as he seems like this self absorbed douche, but listen to the mans music and u find that hes one of the most talented guitarists and song writers ever. thats my opinion atleast, dont know the man personally so i cant comment on him as a person, but based on his music i would say hes a perceptive, and intelligent human being, which is rare for most "musicians" that we are supposed to like nowadays.

M Ragunathan He is so intelligent and in the past, he admits he just tried too hard to be "cool" and sometimes came off like a jerk. But he really is a good hearted person. He does a lot of charity work that you never hear about. He has a foundation that provides services for veterans with PTSD.Sorry for the long testimonial but you got it right. His music is indeed a reflection of his soul. Thank you for looking deeper. He is a rare human being and I feel blessed to live in this time and experience his talent.
