I’m a CCMA and I LOVE it! I was fresh out of high school and found out I was pregnant a month later. I was put on bed rest at 6 months and quit my job. I was a single mom and I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do and how I could provide for my baby. I started Medical Assistant school 3 months after my baby was here! Fast forward to a year later I LOVE being a Medical Assistant. I’m currently in school for my BS in health service management :) you go girl! And by the way, I’m going through a Staffing recruiter too :)

I felt like you were talking directly to me. I had a horrible externship. I had too many MA’s to shadow. They all argued and gossiped about each other like there is so no tomorrow. I really learnt everything on my own. Very toxic environment. I would room, inject, do ekgs for all the MA’s. They all just set by the computers to send patient results. It was a very traumatic experience for me! If not for the hardcore education I got from my school, I wouldn’t have survived there. The physicians and patients were awesome though. Hearing you say “develop a thick skin” makes me motivated to start my journey as an MA. Thanks sis ❤️

Hey! I just stumbled upon your channel and I love it. Your medical assisting videos have been so helpful. I just graduated high school as a CCMA. I’m hoping to get a job soon but the more I think about my career the more anxious I get. I have volunteered in a hospital setting as part of an externship for my program. How long did it take you to get used to being comfortable enough at work? Do you think it’s hard to keep up with everything going on in the health care setting you work in? Thank you so much for your videos! 🖤
@SharleneColon5 жыл бұрын
Michelle Moreno Hi Michelle! Welcome to my channel! I’m glad you love it ❤️ & it’s okay to feel that way! I think Volunteering is a great way to get your feet wet! & it took me about a month or two to fully feel comfortable in my clinic. 2 years later I still ask questions if I feel doubtful of something. & for me it’s not hard to keep up because I’m a fast learner and there is always going to be constant change in the medical field either with your patients, doctors or even technology. I think change is good because it keeps us on our feet and helps us grow and learn more.

Whaaaaat?! You're preggers?! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!! You look so amazing! Never would have guessed... Thank you for your final werds of wisdom.. needed to hear that. You have an idea, but wow! My current class is crzy and it's the first class I've been in in 17 years!!!!! I'm FINALLY starting a career! The blitches in my class, (3 students total until the next module,) are all about me failing...cuz I'm white. What they don't understand is that I'm hungrier for this than they are. I've battled being ostracized, outcasted, and alienated by just about my entire family, have been homeless most of my adult life here and there, and am fighting for custody of my 1st born. I've been studying my heart, mind, and soul out, and it's paying off considerably. For ex: my 1st day, I knew NOTHING. They were both already med pros in one way or another. This only inspired me to beat their pretty booties further. lol I'm actually better prepped for each clss than the instructor who admitted to being a bit rusty during our class tonight. I'm feeling REALLY good/ much better about being so behind compared to my peers. I needed to see your positive uplifting video after class.. THNK YOU!!!! You're intelligent, beautiful, talented, and a true inspiration to all first-time med students! I love YOU! Keep up the great videos, my new friend in the med ind. HUGS!!!! Love, BB aka Love Warrior P.S. Happy Holidays, Mama!! :)

@CoushattaL4 жыл бұрын
You can start with being a clinical certified medical assistant. They do a lot of work especially if you work in an urgent care. And when you figure out whether you like that or not you can decide to move up to RN. Or an LVN. If you're wanting to do that you can go to a local community college and normally are in programs are two years. But becoming an MA will definitely help you understand what you're expecting. Our ends get paid more than MA's. However I am a certified medical assistant and I absolutely love it!

Why couldn’t you go back to your job after your leave?
@SharleneColon5 жыл бұрын
Because I’m not taking the regular maternity leave period I’m taking more time. I’m being a stay at home mom for the rest of the year. Then starting up again next year wherever there is availability for me :)

Sharlene Colon oh well that makes since. Congratulations on baby :) i graduate my medical assisting program September 20th 2019 and I’m so excited and blessed to have 3 Kobe’s lined up to chose from after and my starting pay between all 3 is $15-$17 an hour here in California

Is it easy to find a job as a medical assistant?
@SharleneColon5 жыл бұрын
OfficialMichelle- marie It was easy for me because I went through a staffing agency. They place you where you are needed and you get a lot of experience that way. But if you apply around on your own it might take more time just because there is so much competition out there. But good thing that in the medical field there will always be jobs! You just have to keep applying, interviewing until you find the right one.
