@TheWildYam Жыл бұрын
Wonderful! I love pines. I haven't seen any ponderosa pines around here. Pines have purported antibacterial, antifungal properties.

Ooh, that would be a nice glaze for fish or meats too! Be enhancing to garlic honey also (or spruce tips)! Ever made black garlic? Maillard effect! Was thinking to attempt with passive solar heater in insulated, temperature controlled box in ventilated area (had a dehydrater plug melt once, yikes!) May just try our hot attic!! By an open window!

starting water does not matter. boil until it down until its 85% sugar and 15% water. With a cooking thermometer thats between 235-245F. its called the soft-ball stage of candy making. she may have even gone to the hardball stage 250f - 266F

Thank you for your video. Hmmm, I never knew, I'm more interested in collecting the sap, (you need to scar the tree(s)) and distilling turpentine out of the sap The left over stuff is rosin for the violin bow. True story. I have literally worn holes in my aluminum pie pans. I guess I don't need to take the metal curly pads to them to get the hard stuff off eh? I love the Milk crates. Back when I first started hoarding, ... Oops! I mean "prepping" of course, I'd collect the empty crates where ever I found them and I have 25 of the things full. I'd go to the Milk factory and get their slightly damaged ones for free and then one of the lesser employee's decided I was a sucker and wanted to charge me $5 a crate and pocket his new found money source. That didn't work, I'd just take them then and he couldn't report me because he would be cutting his own throat. Funny how it works. One of the ice cream shops would just throw their crates in a pile out back of the shop not even stacked, ... lol I got my undamaged ones from that pile just a couple at a time. They never missed them. Oops! I'm telling on myself. I really like the candy thermometers for doing stuff like that, I just wish I would stop breaking the things. I have also distilled Birch bark for the birch oil I make. It's a powerful skin medicine and a great mosquito repellent. You have to cut the thick black Birch Oil with a lighter oil for mosquito's, I use baby oil, and just a little dab will do for mosquitos. Warning! You will smell like a thousand year old campfire and turn heads in every room you enter. I don't find it offensive at all BUT! some sensitive noses do. It must suck to be them, .... Thanks for the demo, ... and keep up the great work.

Milk crates are great! I had a few to hold my stuff when I was a bit younger. Birch oil sounds very interesting. I may have to try my hand at making some. Great idea!
