When I was first discovering shoegaze bands back in the day, I was actually drawn to Medicine more than My Bloody Valentine

no shame there. medicine still has one of the most unique sounds in shoegaze to this day

Currently my favorite band. They're good! They have so many tracks that can't or very hard to be found online that you gotta get a physical copy of.

My Bloody Valentine was really experimental for 1988...it was probably a difficult listen...imagine hearing it then

I must say the first time I saw this band was in The Crow. I loved the song and their brief perfomance, then later bought the soundtrack. This is 25 years ago, but I still dig it.

Back in the day, I traded the Cocteau Twins' Pink Opaque CD for Medicine's Shot Forth Self Living. As much as I love the Twins, NO REGRETS ;)

So Brad Laner and Annette Zilinskas (Original Bangles Bass player and Blood on the Saddle) got together on day in Brad's apartment and came up with all those. Annette wrote four songs, including "Aruca" and she sent it off to a friend in creation. Medicine was born. Annette was in the band and would sing until the first album was set to come out. Because she was already on a major label with the Ringling Sisters, her contract didn't allow her to be on another. So she had to drop out of the band.

Annette co-wrote only Aruca and Miss Drugstore and was actually the 2nd female singer in Medicine after Marianna Grubbs. Annette left the band long before they recorded their first LP but returned to make "Scarred For Life" with them in 2019.

@@naefspiel Wrong. She actually wrote four songs and even Brad said this on the Paisley podcast. It was Brad and Annette who started everything. Right from the start. She's even credited on those other songs on KZbin. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bHvIkIeOiph_d7s

Only two on the first Medicine album. A few more came out on various compilations in demo form. There's quite a few Medicine songs from before Annette's time, but that doesn't take away from her contribution at all.@@80sSouthernPunkGirl

Because Jews weren’t in control at the time. The 80s and 90s were only the rise of the Jew. Now, we get to enjoy the full power of the Jew.
