To be fair the map is only really important for the first 20/50 turns depending on how defensive you are but even then you can basically get map information from everyone as fast as you can get to them so its 100% a forced campaign but that's not a bad thing if someone did it properly instead of just moving to Aleppo and calling it quits, a byzantine on corinth with muslims on all sides or even something like the last crusade full map of Christian or muslim and 1 of the opposite on their holy ground Rome/Jerusalem/Baghdad/constantinople but even then that's more of a planned thing and lots of people wouldnt bother to put in the effort to use all those cheats Edit- Nicosia not Corinth

I don't see why he'd even give the campaign the dignity of being shown if it is fabricated. Although let's be honest, I seen some WH3 players do something silly like passively hit "end turn" for 30 out of their first 100 turns and in that game you need to scout much more than you do than in medieval. So if some people are passive in a game which you really shouldn't be, in a game with more lienency I can see it might happen. Maybe not this specific savefile though.

There's been a few good ones especially in TW2 and TW3, like one where the guy made like 3 armies of immortal insane heroes forcing Legend into a massive deficit with only 1 city while AI was left to conquer the map. They tend to be more interesting than when someone just messes up a little.

​​@@Resmund it was a bit of a mix, when the storms hit some Japanese samurai boarded the Mongol fleet forcing them to stay close to eachother, making them more vulnerable to heavy storms. If they didn't board them, the Mongol would've taken some damage but they could just regroup and attack again.

As funny and game-y it seems to use forts to cheese the mongol empire. This is actually how many east and central european states repelled the subsequent mongol incursions of after the initial attack shook them to their core. Hungary for example spent 50 years constructing stone castles EVERYWHERE after the mongol invasion and when a second invasion came the mongols were bogged down having to siege fort after fort while every single fortress they refused to besiege became a huge nuisance to their supply lines. After a while the supplies of the mongol army ran out and were forsed to retreat, the Hungarian forces harassed them relentlessly in small bands and attacks all the way back, safely returning to fortresses every time the mongols attempted to give chase.

I got truly good at this game playing against my dad years ago. It fast became clear that the game ai is totally predictable and barely a threat even in these extreme scenarios. Human opponents are completely different, you beat them by feigned attacks, plague spies on useful units and hidden fleets complete with decoy fleets sent in every direction full of cheap units. You create such a chaos that only the opponents mistakes matter.

I don't think I've ever lost a campaign in Medieval 2, the AI is so cheesable and has no idea how to attack anything with walls, you can literally just move around building mobile forts on your armies every turn and wipe out the Mongols because they only ever win in open field battles. xD

Cav really is king in M2TW. I put my spear inf, in front of my archers in a little battle vs 1 bodyguard. I just started playing the game on my phone, I thought spears were going to stop the cav but no, bodies were flying in the air the unit number burned red and flickered all the way down to 20 (from 75). I pulled my archers back, that didnt work, so I hit the bodyguard with mine and managed to win. Cav is crazy, except in seiges, but still.

In med 2 you can almost any army to sally with putting on unit on a spot which isn't next to your main force. Put a horse unit for example to siege a town from the opposite side, the main army standing on other side, enemy will sally and you will never need to fight in cities. Scummy? Extremely. Effective? Extremely. Also those wins give you a lot Men of the Hour.
