EXCELLENT video. Thank you. For us, Plan G starting 3/21 for three reasons: 1) It’s most like our current employer retiree healthcare- great coverage, but costly. We have to transition to Medicare when eligible and we are already used to paying a fairly high monthly premium 2) Last fall, a tough to diagnose issue sent one of us to multiple specialists who ordered multiple scans and tests. With current employer retiree healthcare, there were no worries about networks, deductibles or excess charges as we bounced from one specialist and hospital group to another 3) Peace of mind. When faced with a serious health issue, the last thing I want to worry about is picking and choosing options based on cost.

Thank you for the comment -- it got me to thinking... I may only see a doctor a few times per year now, but what if I ever have a complicated health situation that requires a number of doctors and specialists to treat. If I'm feeling lousy would I want the extra stress of paying copays and worrying about how this is going to affect our budget. I've got a few months to make up my mind, but this is definitely worth thinking about and factoring into my decision. So thank you 👍

It would be even more effective and more profound if the presenter put up some slides that compared the type of plan (complete coverage vs. high deductible) and gave examples/scenarios showing the math. However my spouse retired earlier than expected due to health-related matters; she's now collecting Social Security. She doesn't have a pension and her monthly Social Security payment falls significantly short of the income she used to earn when she was able to work so we follow a strict monthly budget now. The way I understand it, you are "grandfathered in" to a better plan than Plan G. It covers more. And do NOT have to change, and can keep it forever. I would stay there. I think the difference is you don't have to pay that first $230 deductible each year. Those of us who reach age 65 after 2019 or so can no longer get Plan F. Check behind me though.
@godblessyou73763 жыл бұрын
You don't "have" to move to a Plan G, but you may want to. I have heard that one advantage of a G plan over an F plan is that G plan premiums may have bigger rate increases over time since they don't have the same pool of younger participants continually entering its plan the way Plan G does. The younger participants who presumably have less health care needs keep the Plan G costs down and hence keep the premiums down over time.

Type G. Thank you very much. I am going from an advantage plan to a supplement plan and was very confused about the process. I will be calling your office tomorrow.

I’m Plan G in California. Thinking to change to plan N as my health is good and I rarely go to the doctor.

Get the plan you will want to have when you are sck or injured. Today's health will change. We just do not know when, or in what manner.

Thank you. Still don't know. So far so good. 4 max visits per year, not counting colonoscopy, dexa scans. No meds. Supplements & reversed 15 yrs of painful soft bones in 10 months in a Krav maga dojo. Got lazy after dojo closed cuz of covid. Now 79, federal employee. Was told that with part B and the most basic fehb plan, I would pay $0 copay $0 deductible $0

I have plan N and it works for my husband and my self.

As you explained, the likely hood of the excess charge based on the formalities and responsibilities of the doctor to tell you makes the N more attractive.

When I was younger I would have been a plan N but at age 65+ I don't want to deal with it. Now a plan G for sure.

I like the way you presented this and I’m sort of split between the two but I think I’m more on the peace of mind plan N, or in other words I’m not a gambler and don’t enjoy unpleasant surprises and the difference between the G and N deductible isn’t enough to make a real savings thank you

Thank you for the information. Whether G or N depends on the price and the terms. If the savings are small then I would not bother with N.
