What a great video, finally I found a hairdresser who knows how to cut a long hair for guys and not showing skin head like most of the videos here. Long hair is easy to manage than what most of the people might think and much more elegant especially for 30 years and above old guys.

I love how you create a style just for the particular individual. This style suits him exactly! That's what separates the artist from the rest. I didn't understand how you determined your guide when cutting the top, or how you followed it. Any reason for using a razor rather than scissors? Definitely would love a sectioning video as well. She's a master. She's putting her finger on the comb at the end so that, when she's done combing through the section she wants, she can easily pinch and grab the part of the section she doesn't want to get it out of the way. Make sense?

I have no training in hairdressing but lately been keen to adventure on it with my dovo cutthroat razor. I wanted to see if I got one thing right on your video: the sides and the crown you aimed to remove weight, thus you layer it vertically while the nape and the top you layer it horizontally to add volume thus creating the illusion of a longer top? Thx for the upload, it was quite enjoyable!

Usually I cut the top a bit longer - simply because the back and sides typically grow faster.

Great cut ! I realize you use Aveda products ❤ i dont know if Aveda carrys a clay but could you explain the difference for choosing a low shine pomade or clay or powders

Yes, shine reflects light and matte absorbs light. So when you have really dark hair, often I use at least a medium shine, otherwise there is no definition and the hair tends to look unhealthy. In lighter hair, I use more of a matte product to help absorb the "greasy" look. Of course there are always exceptions like really curly, thick coarse light hair or really fine, greasy dark hair - I would find a medium product of some sort. I hope this helps.
