I gor a 99.4 Percentile score on the MCAT without too much grueling work. The most useful technique is to immediately work every day with practice exams, studying the subject of questions you got wrong or guessed on. Initially do the practice exams untimed. What you seek is 100% correct answers. Then in the latter weeks before your exam, work on speed of completing the tests. While studying for the MCAT, I also realized I learned the subjects incorrectly as a undergraduate. I was studying to get the A grade. This is different from studying to understand and teach the material. The lack of deep understanding and only memorizing facts got me As but left me unprepared for the MCAT. I had to relearn independently each subject and conceptualize them so I could teach my classmates. This process took about 3 months. Combining repeated practice testing with studying to understand made the process a lot of fun. The MCAT itself was enjoyable and rapidly completed.

My method was simple: set daily goals and not getting up until I am done. I usually make the end goal at least one week before the exam, so I could revise beforehand. This made my medical school relatively painless (it has its drawbacks, but I think about it after passing the exam)

I would also like to know. I did very very well my first year, but if you're like me, you're going to forget literally everything. I think we should attempt to retain the knowledge every few months so it builds on that long term memory and will certainly alleviate the burden of having to start from square 1 by relearning everything come test time. I already have my Kaplan books, but have only done 5 minute skims through the chem and bio book to make sure that what I learned correlates to what is in the book (and thank goodness because it was!!). make anki cards asap for all premed classes and just keep up with them through MCAT date
@kugennaidoo15253 жыл бұрын
As a freshman, you literally will know nothing yet. If you can integrate using Anki into taking notes, great. If not, you can always study for the MCAT solely during your junior year (or senior if you want a gap year) and prioritize getting good grades in your courses (that is what most people do). I didn't have any plans for my junior summer, so I studied and took the MCAT then, rather than worrying about it all beforehand and using up extra time every day for three years. TLDR: Do what works for you and what you see as reasonable because you'll be more likely to stick to it.
