This is a feel-good human interest story and great if it supports student success. I just hope the district is aware of and respectful about the multitude of students and their families who don't want dogs in their school setting at all unless it's a specific service dog with a particular disabled student or staff member. Many reasons exist from discomfort, distraction and fear to serious health issues with exposure. The dogs always seem to win in these situations and everyone is expected to be delighted and on board. Also, many cultures don't worship dogs the way Americans do.

The dog is hypoallergenic and this would be a perfect time to work on desensitization, if you have a fear of dogs. Animals have been scientifically proven to alleviate stress and improve quality of life.

Been trying to think of a scenario where this is a bad thing, and I'm struggling to find it. The dog will be up to date on its shots, is well groomed and trained, and hypoallergenic to boot. If a child is fearful of dogs, this is a perfect opportunity for the child to have a positive interaction and overcome their fear. If this is from a cultural/religious practice, your child doesn't have to take part. Animals are known to help with depression and anxiety, are a constant companion. I love my dogs (and cats), and am grateful for the love and companionship they provide. They enrich my life.
