Being declawed can make cats overweight as it screws with their gait badly and makes it painful to walk and move. As cats are toe walkers and declawing removes the first knuckle of each toe, it can completely deform their joints and causes severe arthritis. Which is also why he might be so spicy. I'm grumpy and bitey when I hurt too.

No it does not in the slightest. That is another PETA lie. Stop telling it please. The consensus among true veterinarians is that declawing does not have ANY effect on cats at all when done PROPERLY. No effect on gait, not making it 'painful to walk and move', not anything.

What bothers me a lot as a New Yorker is that the legislature made this big announcement how they were going to ban declawing of cats because it's so cruel, and then they used the bill to sneak in a lot of new "protections" to keep people from exposing cruelty at laboratories and farms. They always have an agenda. I prefer a culture shift any day over legislation, and I'm really glad that fewer people are now thinking of declawing their cats. Fun Story. I flew from NY to LA a few years ago with my cat. She was in a mesh carrier like that one because it was the airline regulation for a carrier. We took off and my cat proceeded to rip through the mesh with claws and teeth. She then bit my thumb quite deep. There was blood everywhere. She tore a huge hole and was clawing her way out. We then leveled off and she did calm down. In fact she loved it and spent most of the time looking out the window. The guy sitting next to me was quite amused and she actually crawled in his lap and fell asleep. And yes. She WAS medicated.

Ragdolls with their medium to long coats can also come in different types of coat. I don't know the exact terms, but you have those that are very "poofy" looking, extremely soft and fluffy, and then those that are still very soft, but more "sleek". My own ragdoll has more of a sleek fur type that, despite being pretty long, is little to no maintenance. He takes care of it very well, brushing once a week is more than enough (unless he's shedding, which he does more in spring and autumn). He may require a bath once or twice a year because the fur can get greasy over time (since it's so fine), but other than that, his fur is very easy to maintain :) And yes, de-clawing is an awful practice, I'm glad it is illegal where I live (in Europe). It has 0 benefits and only causes pain and long-term issues.

Sometimes very pretty cats become cranky because humans are so attracted to them and don't respect or don't even catch their subtle "I'm done with being touched by you right now" signals. And that can go the other way too. My cat had defaulted to biting to tell us he was done, but I eventually taught him that he can just push my hand away and I would stop. Whoa! That’s a lot of cat. With a lot of hair and a lot of attitude. Dang that vets are still declawing cats! It should be illegal. And I have to admit I watch Girl with the Dogs to see her groom cats. 😊

I'll never forget the day I found one of these beauties out on the street, and I immediately fell in love. He was just over a year old and super affectionate, nobody claimed him when I asked around or posted online and he wasn't chipped. I was so sad I couldn't keep him, but I did make sure he got a wonderful home.

I love all the ragdolls lately. They’re my favorite breed. I miss mine very much. The one we got when I was 16 lived for 16 years. She didn’t get cuddly until she was old. Our other was a mix, not sure how old he was exactly because we adopted him as an adult cat, but he was very cuddly once he got over being scared of everything.

Feisty Franklin 😂 Poor boy tho, I'd be pissed if I'd been declawed and then had a bubble on my head.. not a dignified look. Seriously though he's got a beautifully maintained coat so obviously well loved, probably wouldn't bite if he had claws... Well maybe 😂💜🐾

I think someone forgot to tell him he's a ragdoll.... Such a pretty, fluffy spicy kitty. Glad you had him in that bubble, he was NOT playing with those bites! WOW! Glad to hear the owner is taking care of his coat so well, lots of ragdoll owners don't understand how much work those coats can be. Great job owner! :)

Years ago I adopted a stray Tuxedo. Both front feet were deformed. The only way to stop his pain was surgery. In the process he was declawed and his feet straightened. After the surgery he displayed no sign of pain. He never bit once. Was the sweetest guy. My soul cat.

@@woodstream6137 A hairdryer is fine, it takes some time but my cats don't hate it that much as a rage cage.
@Evanthegirl9 күн бұрын
@woodstream6137 I used my hair dryer, which is like a Dyson hair dryer (not nearly as expensive though). He kind of hid in the corner, and I had it on warm and just blew warm air at him until he was mostly dry. I occasionally used a comb to make sure he wasn’t getting tangles. His belly was the hardest, but he eventually got up on the countertop and I sat below him. I think once he realized he was warm, he calmed down a lot.

Most of these people who end up declawing. “I didn’t want my expensive furniture damaged.” Buy cheap furniture accept it will get scratched, or don’t get a cat.

And most breeders will tell you ragdolls can’t fight back! 😂 My ragdoll is so lazy he can barely groom himself, yet he also loves to pick play fights with his bigger (in size) brother. He started out a skittish little prankster who would basically give us what I call “vampire bites”, where he would hug your leg, then stealthily sink his fangs into your skin! This is a kitten we’re talking about, by the way, and when that kitten started growing into his “teenage” stage (past 3 months old, so he was close to adult size) those play bites got rough! We nicknamed him “Baby Shark” because of it. Fitting, because his real name was Finn, like a shark fin.

Franky was grumpy but allowing the situation until he heard "you are not very nice", at which point then he lashed out, in a "don't you dare say this again" kind of move. Then everything was going fine: Franky was going back to his carrier all by himself, until he heard "don't come again", from that instant it was revenge, a wild tiger grade revenge 🐅😨. This cat understands English for sure 🙄.
