Wolf gang as you like me are aware it don’t matter how domesticated wild animals are even those breed in captivity still have implanted in there genes/DNA codes the wild instincts of there wild ancestors,look at dogs for instance ever one thinks dogs are cute sweet animals till something triggers there natural instinct that’s why you get dogs that go round in pack worrying and killing sheep and other animals it’s the wolf in then coming out (sorry. That's actually why ferrets are illegal in California, there are so many chicken farms that ferrets can destroy the whole economy if they got loose. They will kill chickens for fun if they become wild again. But at the same time, these are tame domestic babies that don't get it, so all were safe in that moment with him watching. I don't think it's fair to assume any pet will automatically kill another, but safe introductions like this are needed. He did a great job being there and averting disaster!

I agree. If it's chilly out for humans? It's cold out for ferrets. I'm not a fan of the way Lester is with them. Ferrets are not a hardy animal. Anyone who knows anything about them, knows they need special food, accommodations, care, and a watchful eye. Everyone is sayin the chicken did a good job (and she did) But that chicken could easily beat up and injure the ferret. Ferrets are not nearly as tough as say, a mink or weasel. I'm not really knocking Lester. Tho I do cringe when it comes to his ferret knowledge.

The real reason all the animals turned their noses up, is because you’ve introduced a predator to the farm. Just as you haul possums away so frequently, ferrets are like that. They would kill Goldie’s babies and she knows it. They are also egg eaters. Ferrets are no bueno to farm animals. It’s obvious your Bigs, Littles, and Tinies are trying to tell you something, Lester.

After Lester made the comment about how people will watch the first few seconds of the video, and then immediately start asking where the third ferret is, I felt compelled to check the comments to see if he was right... 😂😂😂 WOW. I highly recommend you guys actually FINISH these videos if you’re truly a fan of the sanctuary and care about the animals. First off come on Lester you put a possum looking animal in with a chicken and didn’t predict exactly what was gonna happen. I’m glad I watched all of it (which I always do) because I was wondering where the third ferret was. That little Brynleigh is a doll. Little Journey is getting brave and walking around everywhere so good. But, I always love to see when you put Journey back in the playpen you see Pig Newton running to go with her. It’s gonna be heartbreaking when pig Newton is big enough to become a little and live in the pasture with the others

OMG Lester, poor goldie must have been terrified. Ferrets are natural predators to vermin and small birds. In Britain we use them to clear out vermin from hay barns and chicken coops. They are so feared by rabbits, rats etc etc, that using ferret nesting down can chase away rats just from the odour!

The firstirst thing I thought was " Oh no this looks like a bad idea" 😩 I am not usually against things like this because I am all for allowing animals to explore their surroundings. Why would you "want to see how Goldie protects her babies"?! That really wasn't fair. Ferrets hunt/eat rodents and are omnivores. The ferret could have injured your chickens or vice versa... Goldie could have injured one of the ferrets eyes with her talons. They're not outdoor, farm animals. They're small indoor pets but can be kept outdoors in the proper enclosures (as I am sure you guys already know all of this!)😊. You knew she was going to protect her chicks. You put the ferrets in a situation where you knew they were going to fail. If something would have happened that would have been your fault, and would have been irresponsible. Anyway, I am very happy to see you're well ❤️ That Journey & Pig Newton, the rest of the littles and bigs are doing well! BTW, Love your videos! yes you are right Lester bad idea, My sister had ferrets years ago and she also had a cat that had kittens, lets just say the new kittens didn't fare very well,, She was upset with the ferrets but thats what happens when you have ferrets with tiny kittens in the house and can be the same with chicks etc , I guess she didn't know that though..
