We had a barn cat that we adopted along with several others. He had one backwards back leg and the other just plain stopped at the ankle. Birth defects like Miette. He was nearly an adult when he moved in our barn and had a long, happy life running on two front legs and using the leg that stopped for stabilization in the back. He held the backwards leg up and out of the way. He was also deaf and one of the other cats would go find him when it heard us with the food. Cats are truly amazing creatures

I wanted to say Thank You! I watched one of your videos last Spring about fostering kittens. I had been putting it off as I had a senior cat that I didn’t want to upset. But I decided to just do it because I created a seperate kitten room so their paths did not cross. In the 6 months I’ve been fostering kitten, I’ve had 18 kittens stay with me for various lengths of time. It has been so rewarding! My 16 year cat passed away 2 months ago and I’m so thankful to have a few foster kittens to help me through it. I’m so glad I started to foster kittens and plan to continue to foster them when ever possible!

Miette is pretty darn cute. Glad you have her in your care. At the pet supply store, I used to work at. We have a shop cat who is black named Orpheus. He was also born without his hip sockets and walks around like Miette does. He never wore splints or had surgery.

Are you taking applications for her yet? I understand it would be awhile before she is ready, but as someone with joint problems, and knees that hyperextend back and needs to build muscle, I relate to this kitten. My condition also can’t be fixed, and just needs supportive care and time. We could build strength together!

Unfortunately unless the Orphan Kitten Club is willing to make an exception for me, I am located much further than an 8 hour drive to San Diego CA. Was going to put in an application, as I am confident I could give her a safe and loving home, but I’m sure this baby will find the perfect home regardless!

One of the most interesting things to me about disabled animals like Miette is the fact that they just don't care. They figure out their own way to live and have fun and enjoy themselves. It's just their lives and most animals at least in the case of domestics don't really care because they they're functioning even if they're a bit odd about it.

Miette seems to know her limit, as a kitty on her age should know, and know she need to get stronger. When the time for operation comes, she will be ready. Then the new training will come, that might give her more problems. I hope her respiratory problems will get better, as she grows.
