Marion, I’m from Northeastern Thailand and I cannot explain how appreciated I am seeing you used “Huad” to cook sticky rice! So authentic and yes it always gives you the best texture.

At my housing village in Pak Kret, Nonthaburi north of Bangkok, there was a couple husband and wife from Isan (northeast) who grilled pork and sold it with sticky rice at 5 baht each. They sold at this price for 10 years and increased the price to 10 baht 2 years ago. They sold out by 9.00. They sold everyday except Wednesday (day off). Just January this year, they told me that they would soon quit in a few days as they would move back to Surin to settle there after having built a large house and having bought a pickup truck and 2 motorcycles. The couple owned about 50 rai farm land there and would become full-time farmers again while selling grilled pork and sticky rice as a side business. Imagine, selling grilled pork and sticky rice for 3 hours in the morning for 11 years earns enough to build a large house, buy a pickup and 2 motorcycles!

I'm from Thailand, and I would like to say that your "Moo Ping" looks really delicious. I confirmed that this is an original "Moo Ping". Nowadays, it's quite difficult to find the original like this because we have a new kind of "Moo Ping" made from ground pork scraps called "Moo Ping Nom Sod".
Appreciate this channel because it's made according to the basic recipe, including the steps of cooking glutinous rice according to the original Thai version and grilled pork that has not been adapted to a Western recipe.

I knew there is coconut milk in there. In my country, there's this Thai wholesale supermarket that sell this pork skewers, I think 100 skewers for about 20$, I would just buy it, it's easy for party, and It's so good. i can always tell that peculiar sweetness is from coconut milk, not just sugar.

Maybe that sweetness comes from Coconut sugar😂 Yeah in Thailand we have sugar from coconut. That was very good for softly sweet flavor.

You'll want to look for a shop that looks smoky. The aroma kicks the nose and there are 2-3 main recipes such as grilled pork with fresh milk, red grilled pork, grilled pork with salt. Don't choose a shop that's in a fresh market. But choose the shop on the side of the road. And chicken meat is also interesting. Finally I would recommend Moo satey.

here in the states for example loas new years at the temple grounds, pork on a stick is always a winner. just sooo much flavor for such a simple food item. also yes charcoal adds so more to the flavors if some people do not know.
