Some little tips: •I always add some springtails. The rotting wood and fruit creates a lot of mold and they are sensitive to that. The beetles also love a lot of sunlight and warmth. •They can bite very hard •Adult beetles can fly •adding the spaghnum moss is great it creates a light, draining soil. •They make cocoons out of soil it's really cool! (Never open the cocoons, it can take up to 6 months for them to hatch out of the cocoon, from my experience.) Oh and the grubs move upside down. Thats normal! :) Hope this was helpful in any way

I assume you mean the Beetles bite. Should make for an interesting future video!

@@clutchcargo666they can both bite but the grubs bite the hardest, feels like a sting. Beetle bites just tickle a little 😅

@Hentai Semitism when I started keeping beetles I used to open the cocoons once they were pupae (I was good at figuring it out when they had changed) and kept them in a small container with dirt and watered the dirt often and they always hatched fine, altho I did have a couple who died. Now I stick to letting them do it themselves. Definitely better for them.

I 100& +1 this. I keep a lot of insects (and a beautiful little princess crestie) and these are all great tips! :D

Thanks for your tips :) Shortly after this we got a bit of mould so I added in springtails and they've done a wonderful job at keeping it cleaning. Once they're beetles they'll probably get a whole new tank with lots of light and heating :) The moss I added in was sphagnum moss, glad they like it, may add some more :) And yep, not touching the cocoons :)
@leopardgeckotalk4 жыл бұрын
Shortly after setting up this tank I added springtails. They have done a wonderful job at preventing any mould build up and are thriving along with the grubs. Highly recommend adding a little clean up crew like springtails if you’re thinking of setting up a tank like this 😊

Hey! I'm new to your channel, but I've got a couple of questions if you don't mind. I'm getting a new leopard gecko soon, and I really want one with one of those big, derpy, smiles. Do all of the leopard geckos smile that big? Because it seems as though only a few morphs do. I can't for the LIFE of me find this online, and I don't know anybody who knows anything about them. Also, is there any way to tell a baby's gender? And how young can they be to sex it? I'm going to get one from Petsmart so I can give it a better life, and I'd like to know everything I need to make it perfect for my Tofu. Thank you so much!

The larvae has sharp mandibles that could puncture the other larvae so I suggest you put them in separate containers and i suggest you can ad a little bit more substrate .when they turn in to beetles you could put them together
@leopardgeckotalk4 жыл бұрын
I watched quite a few videos about their care and read up about it, no where suggested separating? The place that sell them as food even says you can leave them in the box they arrive in if you want to keep them as pets, but to me that was way too small. This is a really big box, with deep soil, I'm not sure how well that translated on camera.

Hi Rebecca these beetles are fun to keep I had about 16 (my geckos would not eat the grubs) I did the same and kept them in a plastic vivaruim with mixtures of left over soils. They thrived until the recent heat wave. The are really good fun to watch. I had them in their own environment for a good two years. It is fascinating when they create their cocoon out of secreted soil. Very attractive to watch hatch out. Did not manage to get them to reproduce. Sadly my flat gets very hot and they expired. They love ripe nectarines & Bananas and any left over fruit based Repashy too. Good luck with your new additions :0)

To a 2 month old gecko can you give him small crickets? because the person that i bougth mi gecko said that I couldn't feed them and if i can how many should i give them? 😕😕 And my gecko is eating just meal worms got him wen he was 1 month old😁 because i want to offer varaiety and at what age can i give wax worms as a treat
@samanthap91614 жыл бұрын
I know different places have different sizes, but for my local store, I get mediums, and smalls if they are out of the med. I dont have this as a fact, but I use mealworms, then a cricket or 2 as a treat about twice a week. One grew like crazy, almost to a large, but it was long, not crazy fat, so my leo had no problem catching and eating it. Ppl say that mealworms can be 2 hard to digest, but if you have the correct heating, that shouldn't be an issue. And my leo is 2-4 months old, because he is a juvenile, I will probably be using crickets more often when he is an adult. So yes, crickets are great. The number or size can also vary depending on your geckos size and weight❤🦎

It really depends on what you want, their is a video on Goherping channel on this that I think will help.

I was wondering if you can make a video regarding on how to handle 1 month old crested geckos. (I just got mine yesterday)

They're a bit jumpy as babies. I didn't get my geckos til they were a bit older so I didn't get the experience of handling babies.

My gecko was being strangely hyper and biting me often. We contacted a vet and they said to feed her veggies... I was pretty sure that they cant eat veggies but I just want to make sure. I researched just in case and everywhere I looked showed that they cannot eat any human food such a veggies. She stopped biting me but she is still a bit hyper. Any ideas what might be going on?

They absolutely CANNOT eat veggies. Is there anything in your room that could be scary her? Like other pets or any sudden movements? I would also recommend finding another vet...

I might be getting a larger room in my house soon so I might get some more geckos. Any suggestions? My parents aren't keen on leopard geckos due to heating. I already have a crested gecko and I am getting another one. Which one out of these would you recommend most.... day geckos, chahoua gecko, gargoyle gecko , mourning geckos or chameleons. In my area chahoua geckos are extremely expensive. They were for 200+. Day geckos I heard are not handling pets and chameleons are harder apparently.

Mourning geckos are cool, but not handleable. They’re tiny and don’t take up much space. They’re also all female and reproduce asexually, so if you get one, you’ll end up with more. Gargoyle geckos are pretty cool. Almost identical to cresties care-wise and pretty handleable You’ll be housing your cresties separately, right?
