It's sad to see birds inside a wooden house - no trees, little light, no sense of the out of doors. Not a very healthy zoo.

This is quite an old video now! All of the birds of prey have moved to more spacious aviaries which are naturally planted and have a view over the river. Our bird team are worked daily in the Wild Theatre so they get the opportunity to spread their wings further ❤️

⁠@@NorthumberlandZoo I just recently visited today and as much as my family and I loved the zoo, the owl enclosures left us feeling sad for them. It’s great that they get the chance to spread their wings in the Wild Theatre, but they should get the chance to do this all day long, not just for a short period of the day. Even the Guinea Pigs have a bigger enclosure than the owls, something definitely needs to be done to improve the space they have when not in the Wild Theatre (same for the kookaburra).
