Hi Mel...with regard to the stealing of ecu and breaking in to the van...aren't the injectors coded to the original ecu. And the dashboard unit is coded to the original ecu... So it can't be driven away

Ghost2 immobiliser or Pandora no matter if the ecu is changed they still won’t be able to start the van , I have ghost 2 fitted for peace of mind . Great video Mel as per usual 👍🇬🇧

YAY BUT..A "new" ECU will almost certainly need programming to the car - if nothing else there will be anti-theft measures such as the immobilizer to consider and potentially other systems in the car for it to be configured with. The actual time needed to swap and re-program is relatively small (maybe 2-3 hours) but many independent garages will have to charge more than just this since the equipment to program ECUs is generally not cheap and they will be looking to recoup that investment.

Hi Mel always great content. Mel please can i ask a question i have a micro camper and have always used portable power banks and briefcase type solar. I’m now thinking i want to have permanent fixings. Would a 200w solar panel be adequate to run a compressor fridge just when wild camping. Not leaving on when not camping basically. Also what size leisure battery would i need. Do i need a b2b and split charge please. Thanks Mel hope you can help. Sue xx

Hi Sue yes 200w would be fine that’s what I had on my transit and I used just one 120amh battery with a BTB so engine would also charge battery no problem in summer but struggled in winter 👍

Question. If the screws on the ECU box are designed to snap how do you get them out to do any necessary ECU maintenance?

Same way you remove the snap off bolts on steering column locks, same way it's been done for decades 👍 it just takes longer, is more difficult and noisier 😏 And no I'm not going to tell you exactly how to do it cos then I'll have all the morons on YT moaning at me for telling everyone how to steel a sprinter 🤣🤣

Oh and in 38 years as a mechanic I've never heard of ECU maintenance let alone had to do it 🤔 repairs and replacements yes but they are few and far between so it's a non issue TBH just maybe sn hour's extra work when the time comes to replace or repair the ECU 👍

Why would you go into detail on how they get into vans, glad you had special super duper locks fitted but you still have glass windows.
