Being of a Native American and being raised by grandparents; been taught of people who wandered the land. The Diyin (holy people) made first man and first woman; twelve man were picked and presided over this wandering people. Population increased and people became wicked, so much so that Diyin Dine' made it rain for many days n nights that one family reached the very top of a high mountain. Months later the family came down and this family started wandering again. There was one language, they came to a beautiful area and decided to build a tower that will reach the heavens. Diyin Dine' became very concerned for the people, so it was decided to have many languages, so the tower wasn't built as people didn't understand one another. There is more. But these stories were my bedtime stories as a child. We didn't have books, we didn't go to church. Grandpa was a medicine man and knew no English. He was a very traditional man. So were my parents, very traditional. At age 13 by a series of events I was able to go to school, the first in my family; in my 2nd year a teacher gave me a book to read as we'll be studying this. I took it home, after reading it, it dawn on me that this was my grandpa's stories!! I couldn't figured how it got in this book, because this book was supposedly translated by a man named Joseph Smith. How did J Smith know grandpa's story. I finish reading the book. I was so amazed how it correlated with my bedtime stories. The teachings of grandpa parallel with this book. Even down to Christ (Diyin) visiting Americas after his resurrection. Diyin came down from heaven and picked the twelve and lived among the people awhile and ascended back to heaven. He told the people he will come again just like he came n went. I am of Dine' aka the Navajo Tribe. The Savior lived among the Native people, so I am sure some are able to remember or know about this. I only mentioned the creation of Adam n Eve, the Flood and the Tower of Babel, oh 'after' his resurrection .. how he visited his other 'sheep'..

@@anthonynettleton8346 the gospel is fine but the institution if not a sham, was very likely built on a sham. ...or of course as with any religion, some may take it too serious or be woefully misguided by it. Pushing loved ones away. Just speaking for their potential reason, as it is most people's reasons for leaving any religion. South Park put it well. If you cam make it to the end of that episode, the lesson is objectively great, saying that religion is valid for it's guiding & joyous nature no matter what anyone may think. That people like me shouldn't be judgmental assholes about it while also showing it as a 2 way street. Anyway, they may have their own specific, or unusual reasons. They are valid to be sure. This version of MTM's was edited. An earlier cut shows some mormon practitioner saying with a straight face that when we die, we will be judged by god, jesus and joseph smith. It is kind of funny that someone removed that part, because it was almost too stupid for anyone to believe, even for a mormon and that's saying something.

That definitely is not a teaching of our doctrine the LDS church. It Hass to be some misunderstanding of some obscure quote from long ago or something. It’s not the first time nor probably not the last time a member of our faith makes some declaration of belief that is, just not true…. 2 Nephi 9:41 explains exactly who will be there as our judge and advocate, unto the Father: 41 O then, my beloved brethren, come unto the Lord, the Holy One. Remember that his paths are righteous. Behold, the way for man is narrow, but it lieth in a straight course before him, and the keeper of the gate is the Holy One of Israel; and he employeth no servant there; and there is none other way save it be by the gate; for he cannot be deceived, for the Lord God is his name.

Hi Krista, I appreciate your comment and hope I can be a great friend as well haha. I've been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my entire life and I'm still learning. I make mistakes, I go off course, I repent and try to improve each day. I guarantee you in no way am I or any member I know trying to earn our way to heaven, as much as we are trying to "learn"our way, in other words we are practicing for it by trying to live the way our Heavenly Father has prepared for us for our eternal happiness. As for perfection, I gave up on that long ago LOL I know I will never be perfect in this lifetime, that only comes in the life to follow. There's a great talk by Brad Wilcox entitled "His Grace is Sufficient" on you tube. I encourage you to give it a listen as it hits the nail on the head about that very concern you mentioned. Peace and love sister...:-)

The Apostle Paul spoke of a man who was caught up into the third heaven (see 2 Corinthians 12:2). Could there be a third heaven if there was no second heaven or first heaven? Four decades in the church and I have never heard a Sunday school lesson or even a talk over the pulpit teaching that we are here to "earn our way" into heaven. For me it only comes up whenever we talk to a Protestant Christians. Always as an accusation. It makes you wonder where that idea or teaching actually comes from. Not from the Scriptures and not from our church. Unless, for example, you consider Christ’s discussion with Nicodemus, that baptism is a requirement to enter the Kingdom of God as a way of “earning heaven.” I don’t. Christ shows us the way, invites us to follow, gives us commandments, and we follow Him out of love. Through his infinite atonement, grace and mercy we are saved. It is also true that we will all be judged, by Him who “was sent by His Father”, our Redeemer, our Mediator, and our advocate unto the Father. And yes, of course, why wouldn’t we all want eternal life in the presence of our Father in heaven, why wouldn’t we want the “highest heaven” or third heaven? Growing up, all I ever heard was heaven or hell, heaven or hell. Every TV show, every cartoon it was heaven or hell. I am so thankful not to continue down that false, simplistic and non-Biblical path. For me, it is so liberating not to be tied down to the chains of Creedal Christianity that reject so much of what Paul taught. Celestial, terrestrial and telestial realms (1 Cor. 15:40-42) it’s all right there in your Bible. He foresaw a “falling away” from the truth and that Christ would not appear until there was first a "restitution of all things". Not a reformation but a restitution. It’s right there, in your Bible. Yes, that means also Apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, Seventy, Evangelists, and so forth… yes, apostolic authority is really a thing. The main thing I see in common with all the creeds of Christianity through the dark ages is that everyone of those creeds lacked the 12 apostles or even one apostle. The fact that there are thousands of churches today in Christianity it’s clear proof that Paul’s prophecy of an apostasy absolutely came true. I don’t know how many Christian denominations there are out there, likely thousands, the number really doesn’t matter, as long as it’s not one, it’s not His. I urge you to seek his kingdom, seek true apostolic authority in these last days of the dispensation of the fullness of times. Seek The Church of Jesus, Christ of latter day Saints!

The lady doth protest too much, methinks... On the whole, though, this is a fascinating glimpse into the past of Mormonism. There is a deafening silence on the issues of race and women that is not resolved merely by having a white woman and black men relating their testimonies. But there are many things in this view that I love. I miss the up-front and unflinching approach to how Native Americans are descendants of the Book of Mormon peoples even though it's an untenable position nowadays.
