So excited to see everyone living their dreams! My husband and I were total newbies on the AT last year and hiked NOBO until Damascus. We had to go home and take care of some things but we wouldn't label it as a failed thru hike. We like to call it a really great shake down hike! We hope to be back this year to try out a SOBO if all works out as planned. So far I am subscribed to Hiking With Jenny, Alicia in the Mountains, and Tara Treks. Tara, I loved this video! I have been making a list of all the 2024 AT NOBO and SOBO hikers I can find to follow, including yourself Tara, (I need a well known hiker to follow SOBO!) and I have followed you for a long time. So many of these hikers are also on my list along with new ones you presented. Time does not allow to follow all, but these are a few I will be following, Chase-Life because I currently have a cardiac history too...2-paks, he sounds like fun and retired like me....Hike with Jenny, she is so much fun and followed her before, and one of my favorites, Mama Bear and Baby Bear (now renamed Little Bear) recently renamed on the Foothills Trail by Fresh Grounds...love them @Wildflowers! I live 20 minutes from the AT in southwest Virginia.Ive lived here my whole life and I have never hiked any portion of the trail.I just bought my first backpack about 2 weeks ago.I haven’t had the chance to get out and give this a try but I’m looking forward to trying something that I’ve never done.Since I’ve been doing a lot of research on gear for backpacking and camping I’ve started watching other videos on hiking.I follow Rissa roams so I will be watching her on her journey as she attempts a thru hike along with a couple other people.I can’t wait to start my own hiking and backpacking journey.

Thank you for this video. I’m watching I suck at hiking. Watching him daily is a good tour of the trail. Same with Stick. He is a funny guy, very honest. .. I'm excited to see Alicia in the mountains this year. We met at a trail race a few years back and I enjoyed watching her previous attempt! So I just kept pausing your video and went and found people - so I don’t remover who I all picked. I can tell you things that attracted to me the hikers - humor, solo 50+ hikers, unique stories… I loved how so many people were looking for community - a theme for our world now I think.
