Your surname is bu/boo as in that rare korean surname?! woah! the jeepney driver's korean is impressive! when i heard the jeepney driver say "오십", it sounded like "어십". the jeepney driver's tagalog accent is still strong in his korean. i then realized that tagalog "o" sounds closer to "어" than to "오". i also remembered how i had difficulty making "어" and "오" as different sounding as possible. i really had to exaggerately round my mouth just to pronounce 오. when you pronounced "ala eh", there's no glottal stop (the sound that you produce when you say "uh oh") in between "ala" and "eh" and it sounds like "alayeh". i also salute you for trying to learn our language and way of living! it fascinates me how our native tongues/accents still reflect in the language that we're learning and we're free to decide on retaining our accent or adopt the pronunciation rules of the language that we're learning. nonetheless, we are still understood by other people.
