This video will show you my trip to the Philippines to meet my virtual assistant. I will also show you how to hire and work with a virtual assistant. Plus, my virtual assistant, Dan, will also be sharing some tips and insights.

I found my VA in Onlinejobs.ph. It is the system that I used in hiring my virtual assistants. You can check my detailed video about this.
Why hire from the Philippines?
Filipinos speak really good English and they have a good work ethic. It’s also just about $3/hour to hire someone from the Philippines. While it may sound cheap for others, Dan shares that this kind of rate is already a big thing in the Philippines.
What task should you give a VA?
Most of the tasks I give my VAs are those repetitive ones. I just write it down or do a screen recording of how I do it. From there, I then let my VAs do it. Over time, as you get comfortable with your VAs and you are able to find someone you can trust, you can give them bigger tasks.
Some of the tasks that Dan does are the following:
Invoice Checking - This was the first task he received which was for my first company, BDancewear.
Video Editing - At the start, Dan had no idea on how to edit videos. While I provided a tutorial at the beginning, he eventually learned to teach himself.
Bookkeeping
Collecting Emails
Hiring Other VAs - For Dan, one of the things to watch out for in hiring VAs is the way they answer the question. If they are uncertain with their answers, that will already raise a red flag. They could be lying about their answers like giving a skill set that they don’t really have.
In terms of schedule, I allow my VAs to work whenever they want as long as they get the job done for the day. They usually do 40 hours per week, but if they do more, they also get paid more.
Dan shares that one of the advantages of working as a virtual assistant is being able to avoid the difficulty of commuting especially in the Philippines where traffic is a major problem. For him, working as a VA for Travis was very different from his previous job in a corporate setting. He no longer has to commute to work for three hours and can use that extra time for other important things.
I learned a lot of things in meeting my virtual assistants. The most important one is to embrace the hero’s journey. Part of this is meeting with allies. Don’t try to do it all alone and work with other people.

Awesome video! I'm also working as a VA, and like Dan, I'm grateful for all the opportunities given to us. However, paying someone 3 dollars an hour is something I find undesirable. While the cost of living here in the Philippines is indeed lower compared to the United States, things outside your basic needs cost the same if not more expensive. The rent in Manila varies, but $60 a month allocated for monthly rent is probably a studio unit located in a depressed area. I'm renting a 1 bedroom apartment for $200 a month and my monthly utilities range between $80-100. Obviously, I'm not speaking for everybody, but imagine paying someone in Manila for $500 a month. Yes, you can live with that but just visualize yourself having a $200 monthly savings. That amount won't buy you a decent home, put your kids to a decent school or buy good things outside of your basic needs. It just means you are surviving and not living decently.

there is a part in the philippines that's still using almost same spanish language and its located in mindanao . its the Zamboanga City the dialect is "chavacano" if you will listen to that dialect, its almost the same in spanish language.

My advice to you next time you talk to him through speech is to speak alot more slower and clearly instead of talking to him like he speaks fluently.... he tries alot harder to dissect every little thing u say so if u make it more simple instead of saying whatever is on your mind you two will definitely vibe more and u will experience a calmer side of him. Just remember to put urself in adrian's shoes bc I'm sure he will agree. He just doesnt correct you bc that would be rude in their culture. So remember he WILL APPRECIATE you speaking slower and clearer.

Don't do that. Fil VAs are generally honest but you don't know you run into bad apples. There are calamity loans, housing loans from Sss and there is Philhealth for unforseen emergencies. Help them acquire loans from those credible organizations.. Don't give loan yourself..

3USD? Yes it is difficult to find a job in Philippines but you are based in the US and I’m sure you are aware of the VA rate. You don’t have to pay the same rate as US VA but 3USD is taking advantage. Sorry no other words.

I wish I was in manila if it's that much cheap. I could hire a VA from Philippines, although I am living in Pakistan. And I never worked lower than $6 per hour with shared clients service. I have a house with rent of $450 and electricity is like $180 Gas and water like $30. Internet is like $25. I have 2 kids and there monthly diapers and milk is like $175 per month. Grocery is not there yet. How could someone live with $3 per hour??? Also I have $80 Car gas. Damn man. @travis Dan might be living low life Believe me.

I have no experience being a Virtual Assistant however I did a lot of research about it (That's why I'm here) because most of the job vacancies for homebased are VAs. I do have a total of more than 2 years in BPO related job experiences and very interested to be a VA. Do you have any tips? Or do you have an existing video for it?
