Its genuinely impressive that not only do official art for this game exists but it's SOURCE CODE exists, something the Minakuchi gameboy games weren't able to perserve

Lol i love that you bought a wonderswan that’s classified as “junk parts”. I’m impressed it works!
@RetroBreak4 жыл бұрын
Lol yeah I got it on my first ever trip to a Hard-Off and wasn't expecting it to work at all! It mostly does, just doesn't switch off so I have to take the battery out every time I'm done playing!

Excellent review RetroBreak I gave it a like. I was already aware of this game and I just wanted to see footage of it again when I came across your review. I found it interesting that the director, Naoki Youyama, found the concept art, documents, and source code for this game from doing house cleaning according to the Rockman Corner article. At least now we know what the official colors of all the Robot Masters look like because of this.
@RetroBreak4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yeah those design vids are fascinating! What a cool find! :D I didn’t even think about the fact that the game is all in B&W so that’s the only time you’d see colour on the robot masters! Very cool! Thanks for watching and liking :)
@ZM256.4 жыл бұрын
@@RetroBreak I hope all of his materials for this game get preserved somehow. Out of all the Robot Masters my favorite design has to be Compass Man with how he's able to split himself in half. _"Thanks for watching and liking :)"_ Thanks for making a review I could watch and enjoy.

The wonderswan is still very much a mystery for me

It’s a very interesting system but unfortunately not that many games that are playable without knowing Japanese :(

Great video, the art style and music of the game are really cool!
@RetroBreak4 жыл бұрын
It took a while for me to get used to the new art style but I think it suits the game quite well, and the music is excellent, as expected from a Megaman game :D thanks for watching!

This deserves WAY more views!! Well well done, good sir!! You have shown us US Mega Man fans something we will likely never get to experience ourselves (on the true hardware, that is).

Wow never knew this even existed! Thanks for making this video buddy

That's brilliant! Makes it all worthwhile if I can show off these more obscure games that people might not have heard of before :D

I find it odd that the Internet now denies the existence of this version of the game. It's even been wiped from Wikipedia???

Rockman shadow traveled back in time to find 2 warriors to take him out. He decided to take on Both Mega Man and Bass, seeing how they stopped King. Basically, he wanted to commit temporal suicide.

What a fantastic review mate! Looks fantastic that game and I do love a megaman title! Nice mate ☕🤘🏴

Thanks :) yeah can’t go far wrong with any Megaman game and this one is no exception :) (apart from the price and obscure console it’s on..) thanks for watching!

Great review man! Wow that runs much smoother than I thought it would. The mega-man sprite is quite interesting. Thanks for buying this spendy cart and sharing it with us. You get kudos for going the extra mile to set your monitor and set up the controls and all that mess Great Job mate!
@RetroBreak4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I was quite impressed with how well it actually plays :D glad to share it with everyone! Makes spending that much money on it feel a bit more justified haha

It's been on my hit list of WonderSwan stuff for a while, but as you saw yourself, it's a damned pricey video game haha! Nice video sir, it actually looks like it's worth the pop if I can find it at a reasonable price!
@RetroBreak4 жыл бұрын
Yeah if it wasn’t so expensive it would be an easy recommendation for the system :D thanks for watching :)

i never knew about this, and being a megaman fan i now need it, even though i dont have a wonderswan! lol great looking game. well reviewed!
@RetroBreak4 жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s not that well known, so I’m glad I could do this video to let people know about it! Glad you enjoyed it :) the Wonderswan is a pretty cool console I might do some more reviews on it in the future

Ugh! All that time travel stuff surrounding Quint was always so confusing. Game itself looks fun enough. Plus, the fact that it's M&B sequel is really cool.
@RetroBreak4 жыл бұрын
Yeah the whole backstory of quint is so confusing! I think it’s explained better in the comics? But I’ve never read those. The game is great, but only really a sequel to MM&B in the fact that you can play as Bass, and shared the same music, it doesn’t really have much else to do with it.
@bjornh15274 жыл бұрын
I didn’t even know this existed! Super cool exclusive for the Wonderswan... maybe you should invest in a Wonderswan Crystal in the future? The graphics look pretty good, just very different from Capcoms signature style. The characters have a bit more human proportions in the cutscenes and it’s a cool exception. Too bad about the bosses lack of invulnerability, apart from this I think this looks fun!
@RetroBreak4 жыл бұрын
Happy to have been able to introduce you to this game then :D Year I'd love to get a Swan Crystal at some point, or one of the new LCD mods! There's a few other games I hope to make videos on for the system in the future. Yeah apart from that oddity about the bosses, the game is actually pretty good! Thanks for watching :)

Wonderswan is truly a great handheld and all the FF games look great on it. I see that a backlit screen was created for the Wonderswan but it's not so easy to get a hold of. Hopefully in the near future I can get one modded. Thanks for the sharing the video!
@RetroBreak4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching :) yeah I’ve seen those new screens but they’re pretty expensive! I’d love to be able to play the Final Fantasy games on it! They do look great!

Nice video - a game I wasn’t even aware existed. Seems to retain the Megaman gameplay and look very well despite the limitations of the system.
@RetroBreak4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think they did a good job! Especially as it’s made by a company that had never made a Megaman game before!
@zockeromi19704 жыл бұрын
If the screen had been better (yes i know you can mod it) and the games had seen a western release it would have been one of the nicest handheld for sure
@RetroBreak4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, tbh all handhelds around that time had bad screens, I feel the Neo Geo Pocket would have done much better with a backlight too! I wonder how well the Wonderswan did in japan? There’s quite a lot of big name titles for it there
@TheBeardGaming4 жыл бұрын
Really interesting gameplay style where you have to flip the handheld. I wonder if the PSP had any games do something like that?
@RetroBreak4 жыл бұрын
There are a few I think. There’s a pinball game that you can play vertical to see the whole table, and some shoot em ups, but not as common as on the Wonderswan which was designed for vertical play thanks to the 2 d-pads at the bottom

Great video! I love the WS, you know if Nintendo decides to release an online WS service like the NES or SNES online will be great given the possibilities of the Switch to play in a similar way than the WS.

Would be great if some Wonderswan games came to the Switch! They recently started putting some Neo Geo Pocket games on there and they look and play great! :D

How is there not an option to rotate in the emulator? Lots of games use the rotate function on wonderswan. I have this game but honestly never tried it 😂. Backlighting the original wonderswan is an option, I have the gear but never got to it. I also have a Swancrystal which has a lot better screen!
@RetroBreak4 жыл бұрын
I know, I was very surprised that they didn't take the Wonderswan's screen rotation into account at all! Apparently there are some other emulators that handle it a bit better but I didn't have change to check them out yet..

Mega Man on the wonderswan is an... odd game. MM&B GBA is true fun. CURSE YOU BURNERMAN

The GBA one is too frustrating for me because the screen space is a lot smaller! Much better playing on the snes imo
