They were making a 3 for DS but scrapped it pretty much blaming the fans or lack there of which i would attribute to those who only played the n64 and pc versions of the game which didnt really update from the ps1 version even though they for sure could have, ratings for the pc and n64 version were terrible compared to the original ps1 version so assume those who only played n64/pc version weren't entirely behind the idea of 3 which is why it got scrapped

True greed comes from playing the mini games with a scientific resolve to find the exact method to earn the most Zeni over the shortest period of time. Kick the can can take upwards of 5 runs in and out of that area to generate 5000 Zeni. I can get the same amount playing Kick the Ball, whereby hitting the dogs and getting high scores close to 40 can send you upwards of 40,000 to 50,000z per run if you’re consistent. Which can help grind for the Active Buster’s brutal 999,999,000 end cost for both Attack and Energy final upgrades. Had it been an achievement; the full active buster should have been called “Golden Blue Boy”: ‘Fully upgraded Active Buster, you officially have dumped way too much on this weapon. What IS your R&D budget?!’ I only ever got sullied armor when in the fountain out in front of the City Hall. And thought the moral system didn’t show up until next game.

Wow I am really impressed by the facial animation and the cut scenes in general. I knew they were made in engine and was not expecting them looking this good. I didn't even know games could animate faces using 2D textures like that since I don't recall any other games from the time doing that.

The amount of intractable objects. mini games, easter eggs, unique secrets in this game is surprisingly high. The can kicking and city rebuilding are just a tip of an iceberg. Also I really liked that you had to fight riverbots and pirates. It made the missions diverse and you could not get boring easily.

I remember when it first came out, folks was giving it a lot of heat (bad reviews). Honestly idk why? 🤷🏾 It’s like the 1st MM I played beginning to end and enjoyed every single of it. I played it multiple of times and never got bored with it. Diamond in the rough sums it perfectly. I played it on ps1, ps3, psp & ps vita. That should be well enough to see how good this game holds up on several generations and today. I even now got it digitally on the psp go; even though it’s a lil harder to strafe. If you have the controller setup right. It almost… almost plays as well moving wise as the console.

Can't trust reviews that bash on this game. The best way to judge a game is by personally playing it. Legends on it's own merits earned it's fan base through it's gameplay, lore, characters, and humorous cut scenes. It gave players incentives to explore dungeons by allowing them to make weapons and power-ups through crafting what you find in ruins. Glad it got the love it deserves.

@@TheOmegaDragon I don’t, I go off my own merits or by actually gameplay. Ik some just bias either because it’s not the megaman they know or just wanna be bias for reviews. To me reviews are nothing more but concepts to how they feel the game is… and not what the game could be in the eyes of others. “One persons trash, is another’s persons treasure.”

Man, I wish I could remember how I got this game as a kid. Was it a Christmas present? Birthday? I know how I got Legends 2, as there's a quasi-interesting story behind it, but as far as my memory is concerned, Legends just congealed in my PS one day.

@@SplasH74rul I just saw this, 'cause I'm narcissitically going through my comment history, but here it is, and remember, I _did_ say quasi. I was in a mall one day, playing in the arcade(those were a thing at one time), and as I'm walking out, I see cash on the floor. I pick it up without breaking my stride, and check it out outside. Hey, it's 60 bucks! I spend some of it playing some odd police-simulation game that had motion sensing controls, and go check out the local Gamestop(those were _also_ a thing at one point). What is on the shelf, but Megaman Legends 2, which I didn't even know was a thing, but I did rather enjoy the first one! So I used my ill-gotten wind-fall to pay for it, and then lost it, or more likely, my sister pawned it for drug money when I wasn't paying attention. I then went to eBay to order it again, and got it for 9 dollars, with shipping, and then went to check the price of it a few years later, to see it had jumped to over a hundred. I still have the receipt printed off to prove it. That's my story. Hope it held your interest for the 2 minutes it took to read it.

I’ve full completed it (Ps1 original disk, but on PS2) and pulled full 99:99:99 play throughs as a kid getting all the zeni to fully upgrade every single weapon. While also finding every part and making every upgrade. It is above and beyond one of my favorite game series in the world. Also; Bringing the hand based grenade weapon to the Orange Gate Bonne fight? Ooooof you need the Cannon to rush that fight, as when you have enough energy for it, you can blow off the enemy vessel’s arms early and thereby shorten the boss fight significantly. Bonus points if you figure out how to spam the attack between buster bursts at the last turret. The Active buster is the Game winner however, as you get homing attack capability, with high DPS and infinite energy if you put in the time. For a review? Not a great idea. But to feel like a badass whilst strafing and yeeting endgame fights like their nothing? One of the most satisfying achievements you can earn.

I know this has nothing to do with this game but the composer Makoto Tomozawa has asked fans on Twitter if they would be up for crowdfunding Mega Man Legends 3 He hopes to get at least 10,000 retweets. Nobody knows exactly why Tomozawa put out this tweet - but presumably, it's because he'd like to see the third game released and thinks a crowdfunded project could be the solution.

MY GOD!!!!! Look at his facial expression when he catches the diamond!!! Looking to both sides!!! It is pure gold! Man I love so much Mega Man series!! Legends, Regular, X, Zero, ZX, Battle Network, Starforce!! All of them are polished games! Colorfull funny and inspiring!! Even The visual novel only in Japanese I find amazing, despite what other can say! It has so much dept withim!! Starforce Pegasus for instance has a KILLER soundtrack! The Battle music is the coolest possible!! Heck I'm currently playing Megaman Zero, the first one and it packs so much emotion in those characters!! When you defeat the boss in the "metal trasher" area who was about to finish of your comrade soldiers (who were a fill minutes away of being smashed and squished by the elevator) and after you beat the evil robot, and saves the soldiers and you SEE that they are TREMBLING with fear man!! And they are so gratefull! No matter what people say, this game has a heart of its own man! In a world when so much lives are wasted (sadly even children) to have the opportunity even in a game, to save someone of the impending death, and see their gratitude towards you is so compeling!! It brings tears to my eyes sometimes! To play a hero and have the power to save lifes is so endearing!! Even if they are not gratefull what matters is to help with a pure heart!!

@@wesleybcrowen hum... predate ? they're from the same era and from different countries, i was mostly saying that jokingly about big AAA games which people are always refering as a "pinnacle" for story telling when in reality they're not that great and i say that as someone who has grown with infamous 2, which i still do like to this day, and enjoyed the mass effect franchise for what it is it's even worse when taking cases like life is strange or the games from telltale in general, which is a bit sad in my opinion, i actually had respect for this company before since they revitalized interest in the sam & max franchise also crpgs are a good case of a genra too specific for the general clientele in order to work as a reference for the video game industry as a whole, i don't say that to diminish the genra i actually have a certain interest to what was made from it but just like myself i'm more into action games like say DMC or Onimsha, you can't expect me and many other people to go toward stuff they're keen to get bored from, especially seeing that crpgs are a lot more focused on the story telling elements games can implement rather than gameplay mechanics which in all honesty i think we can all agree a good game is mostly about having a good and fun gameplay rather than the story telling it can portray, it's a good addition and makes the whole package a lot more enjoyable after repalying but that's it otherwise visual novels would have taken the west by surprise and selled like hotcakes compared to Megaman Legends as a action plateformer with a little bit of rpg elements thrown in well... crpgs like Baldur's Gate doesn't have as much appeal and overall fun elements behind it's interactions, basically to sum it up because that kind of thing can be discussed for hours and hours without reaching a conclusion

The N64 version has a mode where you can start off with all the items unlocked, which makes it worth checking it out for that reason alone.

Even if the game didn't interest me much as a kid (after Mega Man X3 and X5 this 3D concept was a bit too.. how do I put it, out of comfort zone?) I would always replay the beginning over and over again just to marvel at beautiful cutscenes. Great art style born out of platform limitations, which gets even better in the sequel. IIRC the reason the load times are fast and the game performs really well in general is because the locations are actually rendered in a really well-optimized 2.5D engine similar to Doom and Build Engine games. What do you think? >Yes >No

Alright, didn't realize the stuff about the cutscenes being good for back then. Learned something new here. Don't really agree with 64 version being so bad, but that's fine.

Sorry so late to the party but I had to say I find your Souls megaman parallel hilarious! I've thought often to myself that Dark Souls Mirrored the 2D megaman in a lot of ways. A LOT of ways. For you to point it out here like this is just, I lack the vocabulary.

You know I've watched this review couple times before, just because I'm a sucker for reviews about games that I like. And I find what you say about the controls funny. You suggest moving strafing to the shoulder buttons instead of the camera turning because they would be more comfortable for modern audiences. Though this doesn't make much sense when you consider having movement all tied to one set of buttons compared to moving forward and backwards and then having to press the shoulder buttons to move sideways really doesn't make a whole lot of sense. There is some level of classic tank controls here, but with the advent of the Analogue Sticks, I don't know who, or how many people, are using the right stick to move left and right whilst looking up and down, while the left stick moves you forward and back, whilst looking left and right. Aside from that, I love the review. (Don't remember if I posted this already or someone else has)
