I prefer the US versions opening theme over the international one.

While not the official remake of "The Maze of Galious", have you seen the 4th game in the series that might as well be a remake: "Pampas & Selene: The Maze of Demons"? Which follows the children of Popolon, who are fighting through the same castle.

I like this game a lot. Im a huge fan of old school platformers like the Classic castlevania and Ghosts and goblins. I did not like the 2nd Maximo game because it tried too hard to be an action combat game like God of war or something

I LOVED Ys I, II and III. When I found out I missed out on Ys IV on SNES and it was translated to English I couldn't wait to dive in. The bigging was good enough while your in town but the minute you get into Combat you almost instantly know something is way off. It looks like the Combat System from Ys I and II on Turbo CD but the hit detection is BROKEN AF. I tried to get aquanted with the Combat for 2 hours before calling it quits. WHAT A SHAME!

I bought the remaster in 2023 i think and then it just ended up in my backlog. But today i was looking for something new to play and found the game again, but i wanted to see some gameplay footage first and that's when i came across your video. I haven't played any romancing saga games before but i'm a big fan of jrpgs like final fantasy, breath of fire, star ocean, legend of heroes and the tales series. Your video is explained a lot of the game mechanics that confused me and now i think i'm ready to start this adventure. I will show your video to a guy at work who i know loves final fantasy. I don't know what other jrpgs he has played but i think he might like minstrel song. Thanks again for this very informative video. You cleared up all the questions i had while watching gameplay footage from other people. I really like the battle system and the soundtrack is a banger. I know this is an older video but i hope this message reaches you. I just wanted to write something and thank you for your effort in putting together this video! Have a great day.

I'm looking for the NA outer box and map in good condition to make a fair purchase offer. Even a good repro of either/both would suffice. Does anyone know the dimensions of the unfolded map? Is the back of it the same tan (?) color as the front? Thanks in advance!

10:10 Who told you that Esteria wasn’t an island originally? I’ve never heard that before. I’m pretty sure the manual of the game calls it an island
@Aboveup2 күн бұрын
Literally the manual of the original versions. The original art, it was not an island. The original intro to Ys 3 suggests they'd walked to that new area after the original adventure as well.
@Pablovania2 күн бұрын
@@Aboveup The manual for the PC-88 release includes a backstory that details Adol sailing from Promalock and washing up on Esteria. and on page 10 Esteria is directly referred to as an island

This engine is probably my favorite engine of all time. I’d never seen anything like it till a saw gameplay of Trails in the Sky. It’s so quaint and novel in the best ways possible. Specifically the character models. I would have been completely content and wouldn’t have cared if they were still using this engine.

That was super harsh on Wanderers. Falgana was great but not one of the best in the series. Thinking about it out loud, 0,1,2,4,6,7,8,& 9 are better as good or better. That being said, Falgana is great but might be one of the worst, but not by much. I haven't played 10 yet but 8 and 9 are WAY better than Falgana.

Since Falcom is going for a new gameplay style with the Ys series starting with Ys X Nordics, I feel like doing a remake of Ys V in that new stule would be wonderful. I hope they will choose to do just that.
@dillonkramer157520 күн бұрын
Your take on ys chronicles book two, is very interesting to me. Because I actually got the same feeling as play. The turbo graphics version with book two feeling like a drastic upgrade in story gameplay and presentation to book one. I also found vet. I never had a problem whisk balancing issues and more often than not forgot about the fireballs in the later half of the game and went through solomon's temple without using magic for anything but boss fights. I have just found that I disagree with a lot of common opinions on this series. For example, I believe memories of cell setter. There's not only amazing remake, but I found that I enjoyed it more than lacrimosa of dana and I find the remix of the first 4 games to be Bad. It's better than most of the modern games with the exception of seven, because that game is amazing
@VOAN21 күн бұрын
I don't think Ys V killed off the franchise between two console generations, I think Falcom just wanted to take a break from Ys and focus more on the Legend of Heroes series. The PS2 remake of Ys V was the modern remake, only issue is that it was never ported outside of the PS2. The game used the same gameplay engine as Ark of Napistim.
@Aboveup18 күн бұрын
The main staff left after finishing 3. Unrelated companies make 4. Falcom tried their own hand at 5, realized they couldn't keep up with the competition on any level. The competition being their own past Ys staff working for Enix. Two generations later an Ys fanboy joined the company, became the new CEO, and brought back his favorite series. The PS2 remake is a completely different company and its existence is borderline unrelated to what Falcom itself was interested in doing at the time. Those other companies valued Ys more than Falcom did themselves at the time. Just because it's a top-down action RPG too does not mean that it's the same engine. Far from the same engine. Arc System works made their own thing for it.

The reason the music is like that is bc it was made to sound good on the vita. But you're right, if they want to compete with our Japanese remakes right now, they need to redo the music to 11 with a full orchestra. I mean just look at octopath or star ocean.

I disagreed hard on your take on frontier, but this one i have to give you my props Those are my exact feelings on this game Aside from just the trading stuff, i would like to criticize the UI Trading isnt just boring because of how much you do it, but how many menus you need to acess for that. You go into the menu, select the items category, then select item trading, then choose to bid your items Then go for the biding screen, open your inventory and select an item, then a pop up appears asking you to select the quantity and THEN you can finally finish the biding and fight waiting for the results. Its WAY too much for a simple trading and its obviously busywork since you do it so many times. The script is worse than SG so all that is left is combat And let me tell something, the combat is not better than SG. It initially feels like it is, but bosss are immune to stat ailments way more often than not in this What does it means? It means you will rely on nothing but combos and showstoppers, quickly it become devoid of strategic value compared to SG large focus on tool usage. Here? Change formation and keep on doing showstoppers. No heal, barely any functional stat ailments and worse of all: almost no enemy variety to work with. Its really the worst SaGa game since Unlimited SaGa, actually US has more going for it.
