A fun, brainless love letter to the franchise once the gacha is removed. I love the idea of repackaging dead live service games and hope to see others follow Capcom's lead.

Your comment at 37:24 is completely true. A few mods to restore content, rebalance the game and improve the loot gained made this a great addition to the Mega Man series, even if the story is disconnected. From X5 to X8, and adding X3 to that pile, the series wasn't very good, but this felt like it took the safe route and made fun levels with lots of variety to chew in. But yeah, indie titles can surpass the whole series with a bit of effort.

The Japanese audio is pretty good, even so I'll never forget the horrible Western dub as I played the game in excess of 10 times before the undub mod ever existed.

Thanks for bringing up the Gunvolt series, I need to check those out later. I also enjoyed 20XX / 30XX, being heavily influenced by Megaman X.

Azure Strike Gunvolt 1-3 are great games made by the Megaman Zero/ZX developers. There's also Luminous Avenger IX 1 and 2 which are a spin-off assuming the bad ending of Gunvolt 1, the good ending obviously takes you to Gunvolt 2 and 3.

thorough articulation on what the mega man x series was and became! x dive offline almost looks like a love letter to the series with how many characters, and bosses you can encounter. I'm surprised by how well the developers translated gacha events etc into an offline game, makes me wish more end of service mobile games would consider a similar conversion.

Capcom r&d's presentation is pretty detailed on this, across multiple presentations and documents their position is very well thought out and explained. Even though it's almost completely wrong.

it seems to me that mega man/rockman was only a hit in usa and japan. here in eastern europe rockman (yes, the same as in japan) definitely wasn't popular. and by "wasn't popular" i mean i don't know anyone who liked it or even remembers it as a thing. probably because it arived in early 90s in combination with many other games, and we never had any kind of promotion for the name/series.

@@bluesoystercultist7164 that was from 2000 and beyond, when prices for pc's dropped somewhat and mid class salaries became a thing. only some had decent pc's through the 90s and played quake and alikes. :)

I could cop out and say the Bethesda ones because I do like FPS, but when I'm feeling like a challenge I go with Etrian Odyssey. I'm really due to replay the Wizardry series though, it's been way too long and I've not played the newest.
