@00_MyBestAdvice_002 ай бұрын
I think what made Mustaine's rhythm playing so great is that he started as a lead guitarist. If you play his best, most unique rhythms, you realize they are actually lead guitar licks, repeated as riffs. They are at pitches and have the level of complexity of lead licks. Dave did this on the earliest Megadeth albums, and in this way, transformed metal guitar to where this is much more common now. For this reason, his riffs are harder to play, especially while singing.

C Ayala I have to agree. I’m a huge Mustaine fan and have been for years. But I’ve never considered him a top vocalist and this performance doesn’t change that. he has a very distinctive style and sound that can’t be mistaken for anyone else - and that’s something. Dave is an amazing guitarist (rhythm & lead) and writes great music & lyrics so he’s forgiven if he’s not the best vocalist around.

I agree with you that the drums we hear, see in this concert sounds better than many or most of today's drums and today's dtums sounds/ productions especially in metalcore records... and I respect the opinions and tastes of others... but, in my opinion, only in my personal opinion, to say that this drums sounds shockingly good is a bit of an exaggeration. In addition I'd add that if Menza had also used for this concert a traditional wood-made acoustic drum kit (e.g. maple or birch tama or pearl) it would have sounded even better in that gig. I really feel sorry for all the trees that are cut down to build drums and other wood-made products, but as for violins and pianos, acoustic drums also sound much better when are made of wood. Wood-made drums sound better and look also better.

Metal production peaked around 2000. After that it has just been a gradual removal of intensity and variation (see Circle of Tone and Spectresound studio's channels).

His tightness and groove was impeccable. What I loved about the Menza era was how clean and machine like he could play but still had such great groove. One of a kind drummer for sure and sorely missed!
