Before I leave this stank lil air bender to his twitch rants. I'll share my personal perspective. My reasons for knowing outright that ego has blinded this goof & his mouth has deafen his ears to the melody of nuance. I don't know what manga comic taught the kid here, but I assume that it wasn't a Shaolin monk...? Especially not that "punching a kick, will only break your wrist" .... Because punches absolutely can be a good defense against low kicks. I have no belts, no formal training at all. Besides that where I grew up, if you wanted to leave Moma's kitchen... you had to be willing fight. I didn't grow up on streets of Thailand or Brazil, so I will understand, if you fanboy's need to shit on my creed to save face. In my lower middle class suburban mixed 1980's neighborhood, I was the youngest of the group of guys I ran with. This was not because, there were no other kids my age around. Nope it was merely that I was the youngest to not run home in tears, when the play went from rough to heated. It didn't matter, if you had a big brother in our group, or if you took steroids, or if you were a legit thuglife type whose parents moved your "badass" out the ghetto... On our block, you were eventually going to be expected to back your convictions with your hands & your chin. Long story short, I have actually fought (not just spared) a fair amount, in my lifetime. The vast majority took place over 25yrs ago, but there were trained fighters in the old days as well... BJJ wasn't taught much back then, however I spared with & street fought HS wrestlers many times. I scrapped with a few guys that trained at boxing gyms. I fought a few miltary guys, one a marine that had obviously trained more Muay Thai than he got in basic. I've actually fought a few flashy tae kwon do guys too (tae kwon McDojos were huge in the 80s) . I once fought a guy that had amazing kickboxing skills, (as in much better defense & balance than the tae kwon dorks) This actually made his kicks far more effective, set up with boxing, (framing, footwork, slips, etc) This all led to my knowledge, that you're lil monk here is absolutely full of his own shite. For example, him stating "you would break your wrist punching a kick"....🙄 One thing, fighting those tae kwon do guys taught me was, how to difuse a kicks power. Sure you can roll with a roundhouse (if you see it coming), but for most kicks as with a bat... It's far safer to close distance to difuse the power. If they have commited to a high kick, this is a great time to flatten the sucker. Some however, like to pick you apart, with these very fast low kicks. Hard to close or circle fast enough to difuse those (for me at least)... But I will tell you what did work... Turning my knee & shin toward a low hook kick & a pivoting downward knuckle wrap against whip kicks. In fact, the kickboxer I mentioned, was pinballing me pretty blindingly, up until I landed the 4th time on his inner quad. This (thank God) threw off his rhythm enough for me to utilize a few nearby cars to return the "pinball" favor... Anyway, that fight was stopped, by bikers whose favorite pool hall didn't like cops showing up & that was that. (I paused the vid @3:07 because I just can't, with this bs) Already... One other comment I heard was "what is that??" Seagull was demonstrating how to place your core strength behind a short punch... How is it that was obvious to me, but not this mighty "Shaolin" ? Annnnyway, this is a very handy punch to catch a head slip "peek a boo" style boxer with, when he is right in front of you & yet his head is everywhere your fist is not? You see, one thing that shifts fairly slowly no matter, if they can slip like Patterson, Toney or Tyson? The chest... & I found a sharp short heart punch or 4 will usually at least slow that crazy head movement... On occasion it drops the guy to his knees, sweeting bullets & grasping their heart. Anyway... Enjoy Mr. limp biscuit here, just be leary of the gravy. Later young guns.

So one day he tries what he saw in a movie and I get a nice turn back kick in...he used boxing when we sparred after that. I love the point about sparring. Starting out with "Kung Fu" I learned a lot of katas and other forms but it wasn't until I started doing Tae Kwon Do and Kajukimbo where we sparred where I found out that a lot of forms are just to tighten up your moves and show techniques...not so much to use. If you want to get good at martial arts or any fighting style you have to spar and learn how to take hit. Watching stationary people wait to do a move done on them is so cringe. He should let them attack wicked and wild because in a real fight people do weird things and you have to be able to react. I don't train anymore but cringe martial arts as I call it still irks me a little bit.

Yes, some of the joint-locking techniques used in Daito-ryu could potentially break an opponent's fingers or arms if applied with full force on the battlefield. In a life-and-death situation, a practitioner might use these techniques to incapacitate or kill an opponent. However, it's important to note that modern Daito-ryu practice places a strong emphasis on safety and control. Techniques are typically practiced slowly and with controlled force to prevent injury to training partners. Instructors also stress the importance of applying techniques only to the extent necessary to control an opponent, and of releasing the technique immediately once control is established.

I had to partake in Aikido for about 6 years, my parents wanted me to learn some self defense. The first time I got into a fight after that, I learned that pretty much none of it was applicable in a real street fight where I had to defend myself. Only thing that really helped me was reacting really fast with both my arms to block a single kick, that would've absolutely send me to the concrete. Best thing was that kick wasn't even from my opponent it was someone who just wanted to join the brawl. I got really lucky and escaped the fight with only a single kick taken to the balls. I sure as hell wasn't going to fight two guys at once when I just learned Aikido couldn't even let me beat a single one. Long story short, Aikido can help you, there are some grapples in there that are fine in some situations but for a real fight on the street, real self defense, learn something like Kickboxing or just play dirty, pocket sand, throw a bottle, what ever it takes to get out of there and escape unharmed in a situation where you are out numbered.

My martial arts training, if you can call it that, is Marine Corps line training and Marine mixed martial arts. Your sparring comment is spot on. Since I was Marine Infantry for 20 years, I do have real world combat and weapons experience. Shooting at a range one day, someone commented that he shot as good or better than me and attempted to make fun of it. I explained I am a descent, but not the best shot, but I can engage targets (human) while under direct fire and shoot almost as good. Because you can hit a bullseye on a piece of paper proves exactly that. Martial art exhibitions just prove you can do exhibitions. Most people have a plan, until they get punched in the face. I am too old to fight in the streets and to old to prove a point. You can say whatever you want, flex all you want and beat your chest all you want, I'll walk away, it would be childish to respond. If someone I love or myself are in real danger of harm, then and only then, will I attack. No warnings, no talk, just eliminate the threat. My step-son asked me where is the best place to shoot someone, he was a HS junior and I just returned from Fallujah, Iraq. He was expecting where on the body, i told him the real truth, in the back. He asked why. Because they are not looking at you and don't expect it, therefore you are in the least danger. People forget, martial art sports are fun to watch and much of it does apply in a street fight. But in a street fight, their are no rules, just a winner and a loser. In war their are no winners, just survivors and dead people. Be neat if we could settle our differences in the ring, with rules. Make the would a better place that's for sure.
