It is hard to fight a boss while fighting back tears...
The stage itself is nothing to write home about. Like other final stages it serves as little more than to refill your [P] or a lot of extra [点]
Yukari and Yuyuko double team you as the mid bosses and chances are will make off with at least one life. Both their attacks come from ahead of you and from the sides.
Reimu is extremely difficult, and you have to remember everything you've done for each of the previous Touhou games. Her first four spell cards are all callbacks to Remilia, Yuyuko, Kaguya, and Shikieiki. Also her Last Word is a set of five separate spell cards. You've beat the game no matter how well or poor you do against them but unlike Touhou 8 you will not see the following spells if you lose to one.
Also to note, her theme song here G Free ~ Final Dream is a mixture of a few other songs "G Free", "Maiden's Capriccio ~ Dream Battle", and "Eternal Shrine Maiden". I honestly still get chills whenever the Eternal Shrine maiden part comes up and listening to this song is precisely why I wanted to try this game.

The lights had subsided, the great sea had fallen silent. The darkness was all that was left, I didn't see her anywhere. I knew not to call her name, for she wouldn't answer, she couldn't answer. She was gone, there was no coming back. My dear friend had vanquished, but her efforts were not in vain, at least these last fated moments together were fun... I dropped down onto the sea below, the tranquil water broke my fall, slowing my descent into the greater void beneath. Soon enough, I couldn't tell where I was. It was pitch black all around, was I sinking? Or was I floating? I had no way to know, nor did it matter anymore. The boundaries of the sky and sea had blurred long ago, they were nonexistent for quite some time as of now. It was all black. No color, no life. Absolute nothingness. Even the ghostly whispers that had surrounded me from every angle had faded away, they were no more. This feeling, what was it? I felt my heart beating, it was all that I could recognize at first. It seemed to grow stronger, and more frequent. Thump. Thump. It grew harder still, it kept speeding up. What was I feeling? Why was I feeling it? There was nothing that could be causing this, nothing at all. This was a dream, all of this. And even then, it had all gone away. "..." "...wait.." "If.. This was all just a dream.. Why haven't I woken up by now..?" "That.. That's all this was, right? A dream... It was all my dream.." "So then why haven't I... Woken up..?" "..." The heartbeat continued, it never stopped getting faster and harder. And with it, my mind was racing. What was happening? What was this unexplainable feeling? Why haven't I woken up? I was breathing uncontrollably, everything inside of me came up to the surface, everything I kept hidden from the beginning. I tried to slam my fist down against my leg, but it only got halfway before it slowed to a halt. I struggled to move at all, I could only cry out in terror as I realized what was happening. "....No! Stop! Don't do this, I hate this so much! I hate it!" The words from my own mouth struck me, those words were said just some time ago, weren't they? I could feel it. The heartbeat slowed, my mind was becoming empty. My breathing became shallow, each breath was harder to take than the last. Tears flowed down my cheeks, they dripped and fell, yet they never hit the bottom. The void consumed all, and I was no exception. This was my doing, all of it. There was no such thing as fate, this was my decision. I took the risks, and these were the consequences. "Please... I'll do.. Anything..." I cried out into the endless void, there was nothing even I could do anymore to change this. Nobody remained, except for myself. The vampire was gone. Yukari was gone. The immortals, the ones who couldn't die even if they wanted, no matter what, had met the one exception to their eternal existence. But most of all, my one and only true best friend. Gone. And I was helpless to do a damn thing about it anymore, yet I was the reason for it all.. "I did it... I ended the dream.. Wake up already!" Yet nothing happened. I just floated through this black void of eternity, as my body became numb and stiff. I knew it now, there was no hope for me. The heartbeat was dead silent, I couldn't take a single breath more, an overwhelming cold was setting in. Whatever that feeling before was, it had stopped. I started to piece it together. The heartbeat, the breathing, those chaotic thoughts moments ago. They all stopped. This feeling... It was life being chased and consumed by death. This was no longer part of the dream. My last few moments had passed, I was gone. My numb body was no longer under my control, I was completely still. It was becoming increasingly difficult to even think. The time was rapidly approaching, even the void around me felt as if it was scared of what was coming. My arms, held out in front of me from my descent just before. The pure white sleeves were fading away before my eyes, and rather fast. This was the end, the true end of it all. With my final breath, I muttered the final words of my existence. "..Marisa.. Please...." "Never forget..."

[8:40] Interestingly, neither Shinki or Mima make an appearance here, but are replaced by Yuyuko instead, leaving the PC-98 era (route D) totally unrepresented in this spell. This may be because this game was released after the first four main-series Windows titles, so danmaq felt that would be more fitting than the land of cloudy canon. But what if route D was implemented at the last minute? That would explain why there are two "fast" Marisa shot types, though this may also be because, well, Marisa and/or for the sake of preserving her old shots. My little theory there is probably incorrect, but I kinda want some insight on the development of this game now. At what point were certain elements decided? We may never know...

What are those guttural noises in the stage theme? Das scary Well, I braced myself for the ending, but it wasn't so bad tbh. That's probably because I've felt worse. I like it though; the sense of despair and hopelessness as Marisa's reality crumble around her makes what she expressed more raw and brutally honest, you rarely get that otherwise. I'm surprised how Reimu's using black and white amulets that didn't get obscured by the dark background. I've been exposed to too much Len'en to really appreciate it though. 1 question about the ending: where is Marisa sent to in the end? The real world?

That last question'll be revealed in the second ending. I play it after the next video cause it's one of the requirements to unlock the Phantasm stage. Aside from beating the Extra stage, you also need to beat the game as all four shot types. Beating the game a second time unlocks the second good ending.

So a few months ago, on Touhou Replay Showcase (a Twitch channel where you can submit runs to be shown) there was a run of CtC by yeashie (he's kinda well known when it comes to fangames), and he used a mod that had Reimu in blue, and with Sans's face. No, but there's still more to this. One of the requirements to unlocking the Phantasm stage is playing the game again to get the second ending, which helps explain what happened. That'll go up tomorrow, I play the ending after the Extra Stage. But no, Reimu didn't die here. She does in the bad ending though if you end up running out of time in this boss fight. Marisa ends up waking up in the real world and believes Gensokyo to just be a dream and eventually forgets about it. The paradise of dreams reached a finale in Reimu's death. The sad memories will be recognized as a dream and will eventually fade away, they will then become true fantasy. ENDING - 1 Even though we did our best... the time of death was 17:58.

Hey, new update! You can download this game from the videos description (at the bottom) but it won't initially work (like lots of danmaku games). If you want it to work, you're gonna need to install a locale emulator (any you can find can probably work.) After that, set the region to Japan and run as administrator and it should be able to work. (No, simply changing your region to Japan like I did isn't gonna work, you NEED the locale emulator.)

@@Dakurai-vt2tk NP, I hate when people leave guides for help online then as soon as they actually fix it they don't post how they did it, so hopefully someone finds this and gets it working. BTW, I don't know if it's a universal issue, but if you're just playing the unpatched game, it's going to have the same issue as EoSD unpatched does and run at like a billion miles per hour. You just need "Touhou Vpatch_rev4" (I found mine on the Maribel Hearn website), include all the necessary patches and run it THROUGH the patch file (with the locale emulator.) Hope this helps! (It appears youtube keeps deleting my replies... lol, hopefully this goes through.)

They could very well be. These sprites are about as old as Danmakufu itself is (since this is one of the first full games made for Danmakufu), and as such I've seen _a lot_ of other people use these sprites.
