Touhou: Concealed the Conclusion - Final Stage (No Commentary)

It is hard to fight a boss while fighting back tears...
The stage itself is nothing to write home about. Like other final stages it serves as little more than to refill your [P] or a lot of extra [点]
Yukari and Yuyuko double team you as the mid bosses and chances are will make off with at least one life. Both their attacks come from ahead of you and from the sides.
Reimu is extremely difficult, and you have to remember everything you've done for each of the previous Touhou games. Her first four spell cards are all callbacks to Remilia, Yuyuko, Kaguya, and Shikieiki. Also her Last Word is a set of five separate spell cards. You've beat the game no matter how well or poor you do against them but unlike Touhou 8 you will not see the following spells if you lose to one.
Also to note, her theme song here G Free ~ Final Dream is a mixture of a few other songs "G Free", "Maiden's Capriccio ~ Dream Battle", and "Eternal Shrine Maiden". I honestly still get chills whenever the Eternal Shrine maiden part comes up and listening to this song is precisely why I wanted to try this game.

Is it just my imagination, or are Reimu's spellcards based on the different main series Touhou starting with 6? Oh sorry, maybe the word imagination is a bit of a bad term for this video. Seriously, both in title and bullets, the spellcards start with The Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, considering the mass of red bullets, then her next spellcard is based off of Perfect Cherry Blossom, with the butterfly that is probably meant to resemble Yuyuko's bullets, and then there's her third spellcard "Imperishable Dream", which seems to parody Imperishable Night. It's kinda like flashing back on all of the other adventures. Dang, the creator of this game is clever. You could probably take lessons in story, ZUN. Frankly, the only thing that could make the ending more sad was if we had an anime-styled cinematic of Gensokyo and everybody else slowly disintegrating into nothingness. So many FEELS!

Also, her nonspells are mostly black and white. Is that just to match her new white outfit, or is it connected to Marisa in some way? Marisa's been using Reimu's orbs through the game, and now Reimu's attacks match Marisa's colour scheme... there might just be a link there.

Well, if you look closely: Her first spell card resembles Remilia's first one. Her second one resembles yuyuko's third. Her third one resembles Kaguya's third timeout spell card after she gets defeated. Her fourth one resembles Phantasmagoria of Flower View's game play. And last, her very last spell card after she gets defeated resembles three of her bombs. (Fantasy Seal, Evil-sealing circle, and the ring bomb from either Touhou 9 or Touhou 10)

That first one is definitely an upgraded version of Remilia's first spell. And for her last spell, she literally creates apparitions of Remilia, Yuyuko, Kaguya and Eiki to gang up on you. How fair.

Indeed, it is very hard to fight a boss while fighting back tears. Not many games have had the honor of making me shed tears, but this one has joined the ranks....God, fighting Reimu is emotionally taxing.

+MasterHashashin It wasn't me that timed it like that, it was all the musicians doing. And you're right, he's damn good at it. I'm actually not progressing the text forward at any added pace, I'm just letting the text roll by itself. So both the musician and script writer knew exactly where the conversation would be at what time and made the music accordingly.

Been a while since I watched a CtC run. I've had ideas for a spiritual successor fangame, just missing an actual team to make it happen. Heavy, dramatic plots aren't really the "Touhou" style, but occasional what-if scenarios are a neat way to explore Gensokyo's lore and see what'd happen if things were a little more brutal. If CtC says "What if Reimu died and she decided Gensokyo wasn't worth the effort anymore" and has Marisa stop her, tthen my idea is "What if something drove Marisa to see Gensokyo as something worthless and ravage/attempt to destroy it? How would Reimu handle her best friend and closest rival doing the same thing she herself tried to do in CtC, and what could possibly drive Marisa to do such horrible things?"

No no, it's not that bad. If you run out of Hakurei points before she reaches her final spell then you get the bad ending. See the timer counting down in the upper right during the main fight, the time is dependent on the Hakurei points you have, if it hits zero you get the bad ending. Whether you live or die during her last word doesn't matter, the ending remains the same.

I think that's a stupid thing to ask for. Just let people decide for themselves. If you really care that much about not spoiling the ending, then simply don't watch it. I personally don't even like watching stages/spell cards that I haven't gotten to myself. And there's no rule for that.
