I am from Makkah, my ancestors were all from Makkah and we've lived near Masjid Al Haram in Misfala and Bat'ha Quraysh for about 1500 years. I think going through the ancient history of the Haram you missed a few key moments like when the Kaaba was destroyed, when the black stone was stolen then returned, and didn't cover Juhaiman's story through multiple lenses. There's also commending action from King Abdulaziz, the founder of Saudi Arabia, who unified prayer time, as Maliki, Hanafi, Hanbali, and Shafii Muslims all had different corners and prayed under different imams. This was ended in the era of King Abdulaziz, and it was decreed that prayer in Makkah would be unified. The truth is that there are many accounts, and we don't know exactly what happened during the siege. But this was a lot more than a group of people trying to overthrow the government. This was a group claiming to have found the Mahdi, a figure signaling that the antichrist and Christ himself are now among us. This was dangerously threatening to the entire world, not just Saudi Arabia. Also Hajj stampedes were common every year. I had picked out bodies myself when volunteering in 2006 and 2007. This was because many would come to Makkah illegally and would come in numbers Makkah could not handle, and this is why Saudi Arabia has become a lot more strict with Hajj permits, offering it for free but in limited numbers to control the crowds. And a final point: Muslims generally do not approve of pictures or illustrations of religious figures, including Hagar. We would greatly appreciate if you don't use Eurocentric paintings to depict religious figures in the context of Islam.

For those saying that it must stink to high heaven of body odor around the Kaaba, I'll just interject that it actually probably smells of frankincense. Many families hang all of their clean clothes in one room and then light frankincense. It permeates the clothes and, if memory serves, is a spiritual tradition and is used to purify the air and clothes against contagion. We spent a year and a half in Muscat, Oman at the American Embassy where we got to travel to several beautiful mosques, enjoy the hospitality of the Muslim Omani's and shop in incredible souks. Just remember to dress modestly (even for men), and make sure your body is clean and smells nice, (cleanliness is a thing in islam) and it's ok to wear perfume too.. And make sure to take off your shoes at before entering any mosques, and if you can, wash your feet first at the appropriate place (usually from the tap water) before entering.. And please do not say any 'bad words' or swear at people while inside the complex..

Hagar was actually Abraham's concubine. She was originally his wife Sarah's maidservant; Sarah (at the time Sarai) "gave" her to Abraham (then Abram) so that he could father a child, as Sarah was too old to have children.

Great video !!! As a muslim I want to thank you for your hard work and correct information, just a slight thing I wanted to make clear, we muslims do not believe the illustrations in the video to be of the real prophets or in this case (Hagar) Abraham’s wife, or any illustrations depicting prophets/holy people to be real. And lastly we do not worship the Kaba, we worship Allah, the one and only true God.

Thank you for sharing the "Holy Mosque" with the world but in Islam it's very disrespectful to depict prophets in images. The same extends to all the people who are significant figures in Islam especially when depicted in demeaning ways i.e naked or sexual ways. Please I urge you to respect that for our sake, if not for yours. Instead you can use calligraphy for each character or depictions where the people are replaced with light. They can be easily googled.

Companion of the Islamic Prophet said, "You are just a stone neither can you benifit me nor can you harm me. I am even kissin you because my Prophet kissed you, and no muslim will ever worship you." (Tirmizi 860) It is just for the direction because if not this than every muslim will fall apart and would pray in different directions and there will be no unity in it, NOW EVERYONE PRAY AT 1 DIRECTION TO THE CREATOR..!!
