Obi-Wan is 16 years older than Anakin. Anakin is 5 years older than Ahsoka. Anakin isn't really old enough to be a Jedi Knight, he was one of the youngest to ever be knighted at 19. This was for two reasons; 1. Anakin is gifted, and 2. The Republic is at war.
@andmicbro16 ай бұрын
So deep cuts here, but the Jedi passed trials to become Jedi Knights. When Obi Wan was a Palawan in Episode I, it’s mentioned by Qui Gong that Obi Wan was ready to do the trial to become a Jedi Knight. But when Obi Wan faced Darth Maul and defeated him that was seen as a worthy feat to make him a Jedi Knight without having to pass a trial. In the 1000 years where the Sith were absent, so in peace time, the Jedi used trials to promote rank. Trials often took place in a Jedi temple and the Palawan had to pass the trial alone where they face their weaknesses, their fear and temptation with the dark side. They show what a trial looks like in Rebels with both Kanan and Ezra both experiencing trials in the Jedi temple on Lothal. So Obi Wan faced a Sith Lord and won so he was made a Jedi Knight. Anakin faced a Sith Lord (Dooku) and was also made a Jedi Knight. There’s maybe spoilers for Clone Wars so I won’t get specific, but I’ve seen it suggested that to become a master there are certain tasks you must also complete as well, like training a padawan. When Anakin became a Jedi Knight Obi Wan was made a master.
@Tar-Numendil6 ай бұрын
@@andmicbro1 Yes. Technically there was no set age to take the Trials. But on average a Jedi was nearing 30 when they were knighted. Obi-Wan was 25 and considered young, yes he absolutely earned it, but he was still below the average age. Anakin being knighted at 19 is virtually unheard of and I doubt any Jedi prior had ever witnessed that happen before except maybe Yaddle and Yoda. Anakin was knighted almost immediately after the Battle of Geonosis, and if the Republic had not just entered a war in which the Jedi agreed to act as generals I believe it would have been several more years at least before Anakin was knighted. But due to his advanced capabilities and the fact the Republic needed all the generals it could get, it was decided that Anakin was ready enough to take the Trials, which he passed. Obi-Wan getting the rank of Master is also kind of due to the circumstances following the Battle of Geonosis. Did he deserve to be a Master? Yes. But there were also vacancies on the High Council due to the battle and his padawan had just been knighted for the reasons I stated above. As far as the Trials go, the Jedi didn't do away with them when war broke out. Both Obi-Wan and Anakin still had to take them. Obi-Wan had to take one less as his victory over Darth Maul after the loss of his beloved master counted as one. Anakin also faced a Sith Lord, Darth Tyranus. However Anakin did not come out of that duel victorious, for multiple reasons; 1. Tyranus was far more powerful and skilled than Maul, and 2. Anakin was far more reckless and stubborn than Obi-Wan was. Anakin lost an arm and merely survived that duel due to the intervention of Yoda. If Yoda hadn't arrived when he did Anakin and Obi-Wan could very well have died there.

In reference to "He's not treating her how Obi-Wan treated Anakin.". Remember we only briefly saw Obi-Wan with young Anakin and then didn't see them again for ten years. We didn't see Anakin's earlier training which is what we are seeing here with Ahsoka. We saw Anakin at 9 in The Phantom Menace and then jumped to Anakin at age 19 in Attack Of The Clones. We didn't see how Obi-Wan was with Anakin at Ahsoka's age. Yes, we saw that they had a bumpy start but the bulk of his training was off screen. Additionally, Ahsoka grew up in the Temple from a very young age like most of the Jedi - not knowing her parents. So Anakin (who was older when he came to the Temple and did know his parent) training Ahsoka is not really a good comparison to Obi-Wan who was raised in the Temple training Anakin who did not. Obi-Wan has empathy and compassion but being Temple raised his way of interacting would be different not devoid of empathy.

Like Caleb said, Obi-Wan changed his fighting style to the defensive form (Form 3, Soresu) and by movie 3, Mace Windu and Yoda described him as THE Master of Form 3. There’s lore about a sith that mastered Form 3 and could walk through a rain storm without getting wet by blocking all of the rain drops. As Meg noted, Anakin is really fluid. He switched from the acrobatic form (Form 4, Ataru) to the more aggressive form (Form 5, Shien). Anakin specialized in the lightsaber combat variation, Djem So. But also mixed it with some of the acrobatics from form 4 in order to make himself more fluid while retaining all of his powerful blows Ahsoka is actually very very similar to Anakin, not only in the temperament, but in the skill. She’s more advanced than most, that’s why Anakin said she was young. Cause she’s much younger than your typical padawan. Ahsoka is also a Togruta. Not the same as a Twi-Lek, but they seem similar in the idea that the gangs tend to take their women as slaves 😅 Obi-Wan is known as “The Negotiator”. People know him as such throughout the galaxy and he even speaks multiple languages. Multiple being relative to a galaxy full of planets 😂 The Hutts are both male and female at the same time I think. So they shift to their female half when it’s time to birth a child and become significantly more protective and emotional around the beginning of the child’s life before reverting back to the male half A part of the Separatist movement is xenophobia. You’ll notice a lot of separatist worlds are non humanoid species and people tend to discriminate against those species. The Hutts are actually very terrible gangsters. As you’ve seen they hire bounty hunters and keep slaves. That’s like the bare minimum. Palpatine finds out about Anakin and Padme because the priest that did their wedding blabbed to him

Great video and, as always, it is awesome seeing the two of you being excited about these awesome series. But just to add a little bit to the whole "The first two seasons suck but it gets better" quote that you have probably read: It is usually used as a way to help people commit to get to the best moments of the show and not drop it in the early seasons because many do just because they feel it is "childish". But that doesn't mean "we" (at least some of us) hate or even dislike the early seasons, those are amazing content that made us laugh, get excited, think and even cry because this show is just beautiful. Not to mention that a lot of stuff that is used for current shows are things that "have been a thing" since these seasons Fun facts: ummm akchualy ☝🤓: Yeah, the whole concept of lightsaber Green/Blue/Yellow lightsaber color so represent a specific kind of jedi started from KotOR, and I think it is super awesome that Caleb pointed that out, I also want to add that yeah, back in the "old canon/Expanded Universe/Legends" some projects only had a license from Lucasfilm to be created, no needing George Lucas' hand in them, but that doesn't mean that he wouldn't check some of those out, like Timothy Zahn's famous trilogy of books, back in the days of only the OT, he invented that the capital of the Republic and the Empire was a planet called "Coruscant", George Lucas liked that name and that's why it is a thing in Episode I, Zahn also invented something called "Mount Tantiss" which is used in a Disney canon project. Nowadays, Dave Filoni (director of TCW and creator of all major animated SW projects) tries to use concepts from Legends and "canonize them" for the Disney stuff. I'm not sure if you're aware but he was involved in the early days of another IP I know you both enjoy ;) Finally, as a last ummm akchualy ☝🤓: the whole joke about the "war crimes" is not really a joke, Obi-Wan's distraction stunt is (or would be if it was a thing in the galaxy far far away) a violation to the geneva convention

First of all, just wanted to say great reaction, I really love watching your journey into the greatness that is Star Wars. To answer the question, yeah droids can be Force-Sensitive on at least two occasions. Pre-Disney Reboot there was Skippy the R5-D4 droid that was almost taken by Luke in Episode IV. He had a vision that showed R2-D2 was needed for Luke to become the Jedi the galaxy needed him to be. So he used the Force to make himself malfunction. Then in the Disney Star Wars Visions there is a one off story about a droid becoming a Jedi Knight that is really quite nice. I'd say you could watch Star Wars Visions at any point since it isn't focused too much on being continuity minded. Lastly, there was a comic arc in the now Star Wars Legends that deals with the fact that Jedi would just up and take kids to be trained whether the parents agreed or not. Somewhere in the Star Wars Republic comics I believe. Both pre and post Disney the Jedi Order had some serious issues. You may like picking up books or even audiobooks in the Legends stuff because it's really great how they apply actual logic to making stories instead of just doing whatever. P.S. Absorbing the destructive power of the Dark Side is a Light Side technique. When it is as potent as Force Lightning it is done by most Jedi with a lightsaber. This is what Obi-Wan did against Dooku in Episode 2. Yoda is so centered in the Light that he is able to do it with his bare hands if he has time to prepare for it. Anakin has his dark moments, and elements, but until his fall he is still greatly in the Light Side of the Force.

I’m glad you two enjoyed the movie, I’m very invested in this journey!

Fun Fact: Padawan Training takes place for the entire time after a student leaves the temple in the care of a jedi serving as their master. If a Youngling is not selected by a jedi for training before they turn 15, they are deemed to have failed and are redirected to the jedi Service Corps (Agri Corps, Medical Corps, Explorer Corps). Ahsoka (14) is old for a Padawan because she is a transfer from Plo Koon. Obiwan actually was passed over And was on his way to the service corps when he was selected by Qui gon. Fun Fact 2: Hutts are a hermaphrodite species, And they switch gender presentations as their personal proclivity or urge to reproduce takes them. Fun Fact 3: there is a DIFFERENCE between a Jedi Master (rank above Knight) and Jedi's master (Jedi training a Padawan). Just like one of the benchmark Tasks required for a Padawan to be eligible for the Knighthood Trials is building their Own Lightsabre (without assistance), one of the requirements to advance from Knight to Master is to complete the training of a Padawan through to Knighthood. [M]aster (title) is different from [m]aster (honorific).

I don't think droids can have the Force, but I do think they can be favoured by the Force.

Ahsoka's species is Togruta. From what I have gleaned, they are predators, but they are also very connected to nature. The first season of "Tale of the Jedi" shorts series has half of it being about Ahsoka. The first episode, "Life and Death" is about Pav-Ti, her mother, taking Ahsoka on her first hunt (Pav-Ti uses a hunting blaster-rifle). That portrays Togruta who live in country villages on Shilli (their homeworld) as being something I think is inspired by traditional Native American of the more northern states (pine forests and mountains). In other details, the horn-like points on her head are Montrals, which are skin-covered hollow bone organs that give Togruta echolocation senses. They are possibly a big part of their hearing too. Both montrals and lekku (which Togruta have 3 - two at the shoulders and a fatter one at the back) grow as they age, which can be seen on Shaak-Ti and how long her lekku are, or in the Zygerian arc, which is about a Togruta colony being taken as slaves. There was some fuss about the live action Ahsoka was her lekku and montrals were not as long as people hoped, but it was an issue of practical movement for Rosario. They managed to make it better by the _Ahsoka_ series, but not extremely longer. The series also had some great lekku on Hera as well (Hera Syndulla is Twi-Lek).

It seems the Fandom begrudges the AniSoka ship a fair bit, and one can get a good perspective on that if one watches episode 5 of _Ahsoka_ . A bit spoilery, Ahsoka has a vision quest where she relives some bits of the Clone Wars, and thus the actor playing Ahsoka in those scenes was probably 15 at filming (Ariana Greenblatt). It makes it easier to see how young Ahsoka she really was during the war. That is not even counting the Padme issue, as more mutually adult ships, like Obikin (Obi-Wan/Anakin) gives some in-story explainer in fics.

I choose to think Rotta was on Nal Hutta with part of his extended family when Luke, Leia and Lando came to rescue Han. Hell, maybe Rotta has a mother on teh Hutt homeworld that has split custody with Jabba.

On shipping Ventress, I think this series gives a lot of ground for her and Obi-Wan, but her canon ship is Quinlan Vos, who does appear in the show, in season 3. I am under the impression the "Dark Disciple" story was a cut TCW plot that got turned into a novel instead, but nI have also heard Filoni considers it canon, which is curious considering her appearance in _The Bad Batch_ . Secons, Ventress _was_ a Jedi... kinda. She was rescued from slavers by a Jedi, Ky Narec, but Ky got stuck on a Wild space planet, Rattatak. Ky eventually got killed by the criminal gangs, and Ventress had to go it alone, ended up Falling, and then Dooku found her. Meanwhile, on shipping Laurel Dooky, well Dooku has a Legends story, where he had a padawan named Komari Vosa, who had a serious crush on him. Keep in mind, this is a teenage girl lusting after a middle-aged man who is her mentor. Apparently she went missing during a mission and later emerged as a leader of the cult that mision had been fighting. (P.S. My nickname of Laurel Dooky is because of the audio puzzle of a certain sounds being heard both as "Laurel" and "Yanny". Dooku's given name is Yan.)

In the meantime I advise you to buy the board game The Clone Wars. It is a casual collaborative game where players are Jedis and they must solve missions while trying to stop droid invasion and villain action. Missions are episodes from the TV show. I also recomend to buy eyebrow tweezer so you can grab the miniatures from the base to take them out of the insert. If you try to take the miniatures with your fingers, they could break as they fit tightly in the insert. The game is very casual, but extremely thematic. Meg's husband will love how it was made with love for fans.

You guys should look into the Animated Clone Wars mini series done for Cartoon Network. I promise you'll enjoy the ride, and, being a mini series, the whole thing isn't too far off from the length of a movie.

My recommendation is to watch Tales of the Jedi now in chronological order. You can find websites detailing where each episode falls in the chronology. Most of them take place before Clone Wars but at least one you would watch concurrent with Clone Wars and one much later.

Anakin is almost 20 in this movie and Ahsoka is 14... So yeah it would be weird to ship them. Anakin being married aside.

4:56 I wouldn't call it "taking turns". I would say that it takes 30 seconds to load one bullet, so you have to strategize when you take that shot. There are videos on KZbin that will explain it better than I can in a comment. My brief explanation: 1. The first guns were not very good, you'd aim at One guy's head, And hit another guy's foot. So by having a row of people all aiming at the same Target, you're more likely to kill them. 2. Standing in a line means you're not going to accidentally shoot your buddy in front of you. 3. Guys on horses were The Pinnacle of deadly, too fast to shoot with your crappy gun, so big and strong they can run you over and kill you. You need a bunch of guys stabbing the same horse with bayonets if you're going to survive.

the detachment ideology of Buddhism which they in turn got from what's today called Hinduism - is actually detachment from result/reward. You do things because it's the right thing to do, despite the odds, despite the results. Where the chips fall doesn't matter. All that matters is your Karm (the actual thing, not what the Christians believed it to mean) should always be guided by Dharm (responsibility/duty) and committed to the end. So when the Hindu/Buddhist scriptures say detachment should be practiced, it's not from love or relationships but from a sense of entitlement to receiving love in exchange for love and loyalty in exchange of loyalty.
@lordmorklen51666 ай бұрын
@@DocuzanQuitomos well, as someone born into a practicing Hindu family - this is entirely my perception of the texts, so do indeed do the required research to your satisfaction. Anakin in AoTC came the closest to actually understanding what part of love the Jedi are supposed to detach from and what part of it is encouraged.

20:51 Neither do I. In fact, this series has almost as many things that I *don't* like as things that I *do* like. Dave Filoni's approach to Star Wars is very hit-and-miss and very fan-fictioney, at times bending the continuity as much as he can without breaking it.
