According to Dave Filoni the hardest part about writing these episodes was trying to write around the fact that Grievous and Anakin don't meet until Ep.III.

Hey Meg, here's a Star Wars fact: Due to Anakin and Padme's marriage being secret they couldn't wearing rings but instead they exchanged wedding gifts to show there love. Anakin would gift Padme C-3PO. C-3PO would serve as a translator for Padme and help with other important tasks, as well as keep her company. Padme would gift R2D2 to Anakin. Padme even told Anakin that, "R2 was more than a gift but a friend". R2 would be Anakin's astromech throughout the entire Clone Wars and Anakin saw him a close friend.

I believe if I remember correctly that this arc was one of, if not the first produced for the show. That’s why the animation and music are the way they are

So, a fun fact: Gha Nackht, the Trandoshan junk dealer who took R2 is voiced by Ron Perlman, who you may know from roles like Hellboy, Slade from Teen Titans, and the narrator for most of the Fallout games.

You seem to forget one crucial thing. R2 is not anakins droid it’s padmes droid! Which they then presented as wedding gifts to eachother. Anakin gifted padme 3P0 (which is why she is always with him) and padme gifted Anakin R2. Explains more of his attatchment to the droid

Yeah Anakin’s love for R2 is clear which makes what happens in episode 3 all the more tragic. As for R3 no shock there most of the Separatist organization deal in the droid trade so its stands to reason they’d sneak a double agent like R3 into the ranks of the republic.

2:08: Venator class attack cruisers were introduced in episode 2 Attack of the clones. Similar to but not star destroyers.

I like how these episodes show both sides of Anakin, his compassion for R2 is on full display but so is that Vader-like disdain for R3’s failures.

Notice how in episode 3 Anakin told R2 to stay with the ship when he went to Mustafar. And after that Anakin didn't return. And every time Luke told R2 to stay with the ship in the original trilogy R2 never stayed with the ship. R2 is the best droid

Do droids feel pain? Well....in Return of the Jedi..in Jabba's palace...one droid was actually TORTURED, so I guess they do have some sort of sensory perceptions and so can feel something akin to pain (otherwise what would be the point of torturing a droid?) they also seem to have something akin to pleasureable sensations (3PO after all said he felt great after oil bath in A New Hope :)). In general it seems to be the case that the better droids are those who truly develope personalities...when they are not memory wiped repeatedly (R2 has NEVER had his memory erased and so is the most developed on it's own) and supposedly various units have various types of advanced ai in them :).

I really liked the twist that R3 was a spy for several reasons. I felt sorry for him the way Aniken was treating him but now I don't need to feel like it. I knew that droids could have more personality but the idea that R3 could be a spy didn't occur to me for some reason but it made sense and once we knew that R3 was secretly all that it was so nice to see R2 defy the odds and defeat a droid that was supposed to be better than him. The thing that I was dissappointed in was how dismissive Obi Wan was of R2 it was tottallly unnessicary for it to be as extreeme as it was. I get it was part of the plot but as an example at the end Obi could have said so you risked all those lives just to save 1? Instead of saying just to save a droid making it sound like R2 had no value to him. Instead Obi Wan could have been upset that Aniken let his personal feelings caused him to risk too many lives for just 1 life; and that could still be what he meant but it didn't sound like it.
