Having been asked a few times since making a video ( • Meguiars ULTIMATE Comp... ) on the Meguiar's ULTIMATE range "what is the best way to apply Liquid Wax, by hand or machine?"... so I decided there's only one way to find out for definite - or is there a best way? Is there a benefit to either method or is it purely personal preference?

This wax is, hands-down, my favorite. I'm sure there are better but the Meguiars is inexpensive, readily available, easy to apply, and it actually works quite well! Bought a da tool recently, and this video helped me understand how to apply the product using it. Thanks! 👍

It's a very easy, forgiving product to use, so easy to buff off and leaves the paintwork feeling very slick... Yes it might only last a few weeks but it's so enjoyable to apply that it really doesn't matter! Glad I could help 😁👍🏼

Gr8 idea to show the 2 methods side by side. Only got to this video from ur 1 month review of this and I must say it was gr8 to see someone being honest about a meguires product. Too many KZbin channels just chasing views and free stuff but you seem to call it like it is no matter what size the brand is, you've got a new subscriber here, keep up the good work 👍

Thanks Billy, really do appreciate every view and every subscriber. I don't see the point in being anything other than honest, regardless of the brand - plus, I think Meguiar's would survive no matter how negative my feedback was 🤣🤣👍🏼👍🏼

Great editing for the side by side application race 👍🏼 It’s a nice summer product isn’t it when you don’t mind applying every few weeks but not one you’d reach for in the winter usually wanting something much more durable.

It's definitely not a winter protection product, no... But yes, it's quite nice to use if you don't mind reapplying. Cheers Nick 👍🏼

Interesting to watch! It’s funny cos often these are the tests that no one bothers with cos they think “the answer is obvious”, but they can also be the types of tests that throw up the odd surprise! Good on you for putting it out there 👍🏻

It was interesting to see the time difference but by the time you get equipment out and set up etc, you'd be halfway round with the hand applicator 🤣🤣

Talk about nostalgic ! Must be getting on for 25 years since I upgrade from the legendary Mer, to Autoglm and then this product. I could never decide what was better, Megs ULW or the Megs step 3 carnuba wax in the red bottle. Can't spaek about longevity for either as the driving job I had at the time came with lot of downtime so the vehicle would be hand waxed 2-3 a week. Happy memories. Nice to see old school stuff tested, they still have their market.

They do indeed, I still say that these are arguably the best entry-level polishes on the market - they're never going to be the greatest results, but as I've shown with this black XF's paint, the results can still be excellent and these polishes are so easy to work with! 👍🏼

Good video Mark, although the end results were quite indifferent I think the overall time and strain saver makes the machine application the winner for me. This is a Very good demonstration for some out there who are unsure about applying via machine.

Good video Mark!, great to see some ‘old skool’ brands on the channel, I’ve never been a fan of liquid waxes really, and the life of the protection confirmed it for me, wouldn’t waste my time with it. It might suit some waxing every month or so but nah, not impressed really. What was good tho was you showing the methods of application & time difference , I would have thought machine being a lot quicker but in the grand scheme of things. Factor in the cleaning of the pads etc, yeah nah hand application of a wax is still my preferred method , wax on , wax off 😎 Loved the music, top editing too 👌
@SparkleanAutos
@SparkleanAutos 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's faster during the actual 'application' part but when you factor in setting up and cleaning, as you say, the time difference is cancelled out... It really is a personal preference and I can see the advantage of both but liquid waxes probably aren't really for me either. Give me an old tin of paste any day 😁👍🏼 Thanks Graeme 👍🏼😃

Great video as my neighbour today gave me a box with this product for free which is handy as i have just done my whole car with a snow foam and a clay mitt then Maguires compound with a machine polisher. Going to try this product then i might use the Turtle wax ceramic spray on top of that - another product i haven't tried yet. Thanks for the heads up here.

Really good idea Mark to use the bonnet of the car as a test piece exposing it to real road conditions unlike a lot who just leave a panel to the weather in the garden. 👍
@SparkleanAutos
@SparkleanAutos 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Martin. Nothing against testing products on panels but I figured this way would be much more relevant to what I look for in a product... Not my greatest video to date but it has its place in my catalogue 🤣
@GMDetails
@GMDetails 2 жыл бұрын
Whether the panel is on the car or in the garden is irrelevant (unless it’s winter), it’s contact washing that erodes protection the most followed by chemicals and least of all road grime , is the rain on a car being driven at 70mph for 20 miles a day any different form a 10 min pressure wash? Chemicals , pollution, UV, these are all factors in a product longevity , driving it around is not exposing it to anything different or am I missing something 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@GMDetails sorry Graeme I disagree mate🤷‍♂️
@SparkleanAutos
@SparkleanAutos 2 жыл бұрын
Not very often we disagree Graeme but I must on this occasion... If I'm behind another car on a wet, dusty, mucky, rural road doing 50/60 mph, the front panels in particular will be subject to more abuse than a stationary panel in a partially sheltered environment. There are certain tests that panels are ideal for and I've no objection to using them - I'll most likely be in a position to test on one myself in the near future, but I definitely think I'm this particular test, the product will have deteriorated quicker out on the road than behind my shed.
@ObsessiveCarDetailer
@ObsessiveCarDetailer 2 жыл бұрын
@@SparkleanAutos and then add the heat fluctuations created by the engine. I think there is a place for panel testing but on this occasion I think Marks test is really relevant and a refreshing approach. That doesn’t take anything away from previous tests on panels but for me this was real wear & tear

Which polish and cleansing solution did you use before waxing on the right (Machine) side?
@SparkleanAutos
@SparkleanAutos 2 ай бұрын
The exact same process was carried out on both sides prior to testing, to keep it fair... The polish was Koch Chemie F6 and the panel wipe was my own mixture of 80% water, almost 20% IPA and a small amount of degreaser 👍🏼

I'm good Katen, hope you're well too 👍🏼 I just it would be something a bit different, just to show there isn't really any difference other than user preference! Results will be the same as it's only a surface coating - might have to do something similar for polishes - a very different story lol

Good comparison video. I never knew there were multiple stages to a car wash! Apparently, we've been washing our cars all wrong!
@SparkleanAutos
@SparkleanAutos Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say 'wrong' - there can be multiple stages or you can go straight in with a bucket and sponge... question is 'what are you hoping to achieve?' - if you just want the car to 'look a bit cleaner' than just wash it and rinse it off... But if you want to reduce the risk of potentially damaging the soft paintwork, then multiple stages might be a better option 😁 I'm not one of those channels who's arrogant enough to try and tell people what to do - I just like to share my own techniques and opinions, hopefully people find it interesting and/or entertaining 😁😁 Thanks for taking the time to comment 😊👍🏼
