I love this. A Liberal and a Conservative chatting, agreeing and disagreeing with each other while being perfectly civil about it. It's so rare these days.
@TagSpamCop3 жыл бұрын
The reason is that they're both liberal, in the sense of liberalism, which is separate from left and right. They're both speaking the same language of liberal secular democracy. And that's the way it's supposed to work. The Control-Left and the Alt-Right are explicitly illiberal and they're the ones sucking all the air out of the room. The Left expects the Right to get its crazies in order, but keeps balking at doing the same with the crazy Wokes.
@HawaiiKnut3 жыл бұрын
@@TagSpamCop Yes, as in Libertarian Left and Right on the Political Compass. I get along fine with those two. I'm more concerned with the extremes on the Authoritarian/Libertarian axis than on the Left/Right axis. Extreme Libertarian Left or Right are just annoying to me, but the other extremes genuimely scares me.

She is certainly not a conservative. Think you don’t know what that word means. Matt Walsh is conservative. Hannity is conservative. Tucker Carlson has views that are empathetic to conservatives but he is not one. He is certainly a Populist Republican, but 100% not a conservative. Can’t go off of the wiki, it’ll label everyone conservative who has ever expressed a sympathetic view towards any conservative causes.
@TagSpamCop2 жыл бұрын
@@HawaiiKnut No, that's not what that means. You can actually Google the word "Liberalism". Wikipedia has an entire page on it.

@@cryptocred5754 Um, no. You're just naming people you don't like. She's a liberal conservative. "Liberal" actually has a real meaning, not just "left". You're naming illiberal conservatives. Being a conservative is nothing more than being cautious about change in favor of what already exists and works (or is perceived to). Being a progressive means favoring change rather than staying with what already exists. Society needs both, the same way a car needs both an accelerator pedal and a brake pedal, otherwise it never goes anywhere, or risks careening off a cliff.

I’m a leftist who likes both these people too. I disagree with them vehemently on issues affecting trans americans, but I don’t think either of them would say state legislatures should be prioritizing bans on healthcare for certain genders, megyn’s a lawyer and I don’t see her being down with legislating gender based healthcare discrimination , bill has said he’s not about that either. That’s part of why I like them- they’re both smart enough to recognize the value of an argument when it’s framed accurately and well regardless of who’s making it. But they are both really smart and generally authentic. I think a lot of people are craving that. And it’s why I agree with Bill that her show shouldn’t have been cancelled- NBC needed her, and frankly she needed them and thrived with more ideological freedom. Pushing right wing people towards niche online media propaganda for their information ain’t it.

I’m a Democrat, and since 2015, when Trump attack her in the GOP primary debate, I started to look down upon that “billionaire”, and I tried to understand why he didn’t like her, and couldn’t find a reason, since then she’s been my favorite journalist. Yea, she may be a Republican, but she’s a respectable one, unlike Pence.

@Christiano K St. Nicholas was not Turkish. There were no Turks in Asia Minor 300AD. Just like there were no Europeans in North America or Spanish in South America. Ethnically he was Greek. But he was Roman. The west coast of Asia Minor was considered Greece and was populated by Greeks since soon after Greeks come into existence as an ethnicity. But the fictional character we know was created by a guy from the Victorian era. St. Nicholas was unpopular, but the traditions based on him was popular. So a fictional character was created (in drawing) and given a different name. Father Christmas, Sinterklaas, etc. The character the Victorian guy created was white though. The version we know, with the red suit, was created by Coca Cola for adverts. Kind of like how Batman is white.

"I miss being the voice of reason"..............Uh ,,what? You were never the voice of reason when you were on Fox. You tap danced to the Trump train just like the rest of them
@californio18505 жыл бұрын
Exactly. She acts like she took the high road by not standing up to Trump and suggests other journalists should do the same when she's always been a right wing hack rather than a true journalist. Her views are aligned with his in most fundamental ways and she has contributed to attacking the same groups he targets. If every journalist adopted her attitude, White nationalism would become the status quo.

She's based, objective, and can also put her personal biases aside for the good of the country. This is why I respect Megyn Kelly a lot. I mean, it's easy to look at her and say, "Wow she's hot." But she's never acted like that gave her an advantage and Megyn has really pushed hard with her actions to be taken seriously. 💯
