I have never crochet before but I was able to follow Melanie’s simple and comprehensive instructions to make this cowl for my husband. I have used merino wool with hook size 3.5. The angle of the camera and Melanie’s accurate instruction has helped to insert the hook at the correct spot otherwise I could have ended up with a complete new crochet pattern! I have tried to watch and follow other people’s videos but they were no way as precise as Melanie‘s. Thank you. You have really got me hooked!

I have the hardest time putting the foundation chain together without the twist. It may be a beginner stitch but not for a beginner at the start. I have made many of your projects and this has been the most difficult to get it so it won’t twist. Any tips? I made one cowl (finally) without the twist (after many restarts.). The second one I simply cannot get it without the twist. Very frustrated.

I love that trick to ensure that the cowl isn't twisted. It'll come in handy with a lot of other projects! Thanks!

Hi! I have been trying to crochet your slightly slouchy beanie and I have a question. Do you slp st into the top of the chain 2 at the end of each row? I am not even a beginner and I keep getting my numbers wrong! So frustrating! I love your videos..I pretty much want to make all of them!

The foundation chain needs to be tighter than she described on the video. On a scale of 1-tight to 5-loose I think it needs to be a 2. I had to redo a few levels because the bottom foundation just wasn’t looking right.
