I thank you so much for this video. My daughter gave me some upholstery fabric she found from an old sofa. She loved the fabric but didn't know what to do with it. The only time you want to stay as close as possible to the piping is on your final seam when joining the fabrics together. Otherwise, your first two pass of stitches may show on the edge of your pipping.

I just made a pillow cover following your instructions for an envelope pillow cover, and it turned out so great. I was procrastinating on making the cover because I wasn't sure I could do an invisible zipper very well, and I can't stand finishing a pillow by hand sewing it closed. Hey Melanie, this was a good tutorial, but can I add just a few tips, to make it even easier? When making the piping, don't sew real close to the cording. Then when u sew it onto your fabric, sew just a little closer. Finally on the second piece of fabric, after putting the right sides together, sew it together, from the side that u had previously sewn the cording on. This way you can sew your sewing line and get right up next to your cording. So no stitching can be seen on your finished project. It makes them look so professional. My mom was an upholster and made lots of pillows and such for designers. I also make cushions and pillows, so I have quite a bit of experience. I'm not near as accomplished, as my mom was, but I do ok. One more thing, if anyone doesn't have cording or know where to get it. I have used premade piping for apparel, if I wanted just a small accent on pillows and cushions. Works real well. Thanks for video. I do enjoy watching them all.
