All this docu series has done is make my love and respect for XG grow x1000. A documentary like this chronicling the birth of XG from DAY 1 and we actually watch it unfold is just so epic and unprecedented. They are so mature for their age its insane that Maya and Cocona are only 17. XG all seems like they are in their mid to late 20s. Simon has to prepare them for the cut throat toxic life of an idol/celebrity especially in todays world of social media. i will stan XG always

Very precocious gals for sure. I hope some of other gals made it to some other groups in Japan. I felt so bad for the girl who was told not to participate in group performances just like that. That kind of elimination was shocking especially for a 11 yr old.

@@inquisitvem6723 yeah admittedly that part crushed me. it makes me wonder if thats the same method that was used the years Simon was a kpop idol. like in team sports you usually implement the same processes you learned as a player when you become the coach

About the pic posting incident. You have to understand they were just starting the training audition camp, thus Simon wanted them to be focused and not give the perception that they’re just having fun. The public or even family members or friends might think these girls are just dancing for fun when it isn’t the case. I agree with Simon completely.

phew... I am speechless with Xtra Xtrax X1... it's kinda hard to watch, so intense.. probably can never get use to telling those girls bad news. All I want to say is XG is really made different, they are not just idols, they are fighters, dreamers, artists and stars, truly xtraordinary. Everyone was like "this is what I needed to do, my whole life is leading up to this.." ( Cocona able to realize and find her destiny at 11, like what..? 😲) With vision, ambition and passion, They are not playing around like it's some kind of idol game but with a mission and heart. XG truly deserves to be the first gg I ever really stan.. 👏👍🙌🐺🐺🫶🫶 Looking back at songs like tippy toes and shooting star, now they hit differently with this context...

6:35 same! I was first introduced to XG through their cypher and when i saw cocona my mind was going oh "how cute and sweet" then when she started spitting bars last thing i knew my jaw was on the floor 😂.. she had so much maturity coming out of her that my brain couldn't fit it to the face 😅

I’m pretty sure they were given a specific number of reps for the up downs. This is why Chisa said that she felt frustrated because was having difficulty completing them and also why the trainer gave her positive feedback so she wouldn’t be too hard on herself. Same with Maya. Jurin probably finished first.

@@nathancook6810 the impression this gave to me was to keep on going until you couldn't anymore, instead of an specific number of reps, because they said they were pushed to the limit but maybe it was just the edit

I love your perspective on how this is similar in competitive sports and hard agree with that. Its tough, but like you said, in order to be the best you have to be pushed past your limit. We can now clearly see all their hard work has paid off as they are very polished and seem composed when doing performances. I'm excited to see the rest of the documentary and see what they went through and how they became XG. Once again, thanks for showing love to XG ❤

Well today is the big day XG makes their long awaited big performance debut at KCON JAPAN! They will walk the red carpet with the other DAY 2 performers in "about" 11-12ish hours from now on the KCON Official YT channel

I think the music was playing is just a sample(none of the four songs they released)..I watched this many many times already and I still have the same reactions😭..I keep telling myself ‘it’s okay they made it,they made it’😂. Seeing them now reaching their dreams and becoming one of the biggest girl group out there,makes me proud of them even more. If the music that was being played is gonna be one of the tracks in the future,it’s gonna be epic.it’s has that 80’s disco sounds to it.thank you for supporting our xtraordinary girls🙏🏾⭐️🐺

Were they actually playing the song in the background? I couldn’t tell if they were playing the song they were listening to or if they had it muted and just had a random song over the top 😂 which is what happens a lot of the time when I’ve watched “vlog” type things from other idols where they don’t want to spoil the songs. Omg I am beyond proud of these girls! They have earned every bit of success!

I totally agree with you about what you were saying about being pushed past your normal limits to an uncomfortable place around the 24 min. mark. I'm a bit older and so seeing these types of behind the scenes dont 'shock' me like maybe some younger kpop/pop fans because I know and am friends with a lot of people in different industries that are quite strict such as sports or dance training. I have a background in visual arts and animation and that was a really competitive and strict world when we were students (nowhere near as physically demanding or stressful as dorm training for sure) but you really do have to push yourself and feel the reality of the real world where its about choosing the best and making huge sacrifices. I hope we get to see taht these young ladies didn't suffer any abuse of power or truly stressful/unfair situations but I feel like the girls who ended up in XG were in good hands....i hope anyway. I'm a huge fan of theirs.

Absolutely! I was an elite athlete for 10 years, and represented my country in 6 world titles. So I know all about being pushed past my limits and having strict training. The side that I didn’t have to worry about was the “celebrity life” and having to protect my image etc. and we never had to worry about being “cut” from teams just randomly. It all came down to your performance at competitions - if you did good, you made it, if you didn’t do good, you didn’t make it. It was simple and there were no mind games of “you’re in one day and you’re out the next” type of thing. I am so curious to see the rest of this documentary, I love seeing the behind the scenes and what they have gone through to get to where they are ❤️

I think you are right in most parts, about western musicians becoming musicians instead of being molded into a certain artist. I think the major exception are those artist who came up through Disney. Actually the k-pop approach to forming artist reminds me how western artist used to be created. More specifically how Motown used to develop their artists.

It’s honestly just so fascinating to me. I have never really dived into how a kpop group is formed! Like, I know the process however I don’t know the process? HAHA if that makes sense. I have an idea but I’ve never seen the ins and outs of the return of what happens. So I find this super fascinating

I think Fifth Harmony went through a good 6 months of intensive vocal and dance training following the season of X-Factor during which Simon Cowell put them together before releasing their first single and giving their first live performances. This was on top of all the coaching they got during X-Factor itself.

@@donviajero2580 but that is the exception and pretty much only concern with groups that are formed through shows. But the story for most western acts solo/group/band is: decided to become a musician, put a band together and practice, start performing around town, make a demo and shop it around and hope to get signed or now a days decide to become a singer create a SoundCloud and KZbin account, load up my music and hope I go viral.

What Simon was doing when he told them about taking photos in the bathroom was mainly because they were under age, being a Minor and and being a public figure in Asia specially Korea or Japan where they have a high discipline standards the girls would’ve been under a lot of pressure by the social media community and we all know how knetz are with K-pop idols, so in a way he was being strict about it but for their own good taking care of their image as minors and as trainees and if you listen to Simon in the opening of the video he’s voice start braking up because he had to brake the news to the girls who was out and you hear how that hurt him so much showing that he cares for them, he is a such a good Dad to the girls.

I think yes and no. Maybe he had that in mind but what he was literally saying to them was that idols need to be both liked and respected and they don’t wanna give off the impression that they’re just there to have fun (which is what a photo of them in the bathtub with sunglasses gives off). I don’t know if I agree fully with how angry he got with them, especially since it seemed like that was their first time being told that that’s not acceptable, but I mean, it is a very strict industry so I guess it’s not surprising.

I was also not entirely ok with that but tbh, i totally understand it. Simon is a smart guy. We all know how one picture nowadays can totally ruin one's career. It can even ruin your career further down the road because people like to dig up old raunchy stuff and spin narratives their own way. Social media is dangerous for public figures and considering the girls were just minors and would even debut while still being minor, it's good that the girls got that negative experience in training. At the end of the day, he didn't abuse them and call them ugly or something. I can see that he genuinely cares about creating a girl group of strong self aware individuals. It's so important to be that way in their industry.

​@@tothemax1517 we also have to remember XG's context here. Simon knew that XG would be under maximum scrutiny especially once they started to become somewhat popular and with fans. Being an all Japanese group singing in English and promoting on Korean music shows in Korea means....a lot of online bullying. His tactics are definitely aimed at minimizing the motives for online hate and it's a good thing.

Simon is a genius. He thought out everything from the beginning. As some of you have said anything can be use against you, after seeing the route Airi has taken I'm sure her pictures were probably the type of photo that can be used against her. I've seen her solo work and I'm not a fan. She is a great dancer I will say. I mean rumors start if they see you coming out of a restaurant another idols has visited before. Pictures in a bathtub by minors can definitely be use against them.

I just started watching the docu yesterday since i thought that im mentally ready oh boy I was having a rollercoaster of emotions and literally changed my view on all of them in a good way. like now I appreaciate them more. The hardworks that they all went through were insane. The girls were so strong and i love their determination. This documentary literally made me want to do more to support them, to help them get the success that they deserve. XG members and the team deserves the world.

Thanks, I was really looking forward to your reaction - especially to hear about the similarities and differences between the training they are doing and what you did as an athlete. Your perspective now as a coach was a great addition, and I look forward to hearing more as we all go through whatever else this series will show us. We only got a preview this week, but I hope they will talk about the mental games and explain why they feel these things are important because even the preview was hard to watch. I think that the song they heard may have been part of Shooting Star - in their NME interview, Juria describes Shooting Star in a way similar to Hinata's description of the demo - "Music-wise, ‘Shooting Star’ has an ethereal sound [that feels like you’re] floating in space" - I hope they'll tell us someday. It was hard seeing the kids cry :( I don't think I hear much about western artists to be trained professionally by a group before debuting (maybe there is, I just don't think it's common) usually a label finds a singer and if they like their songs they'll promote, fund etc... But then... there also aren't many US groups when I think about it. I think Backstreet Boys and NSync did have some training but not this intense.

I'm surprised they didn't have to blur out the other girls, they all must have given their consent to show themselves in this documentary. I guess that could help in putting their name out there for people to look out for them in the future. But this docu is really nicely done.

It's actually nice to see their faces. Makes it so meaningful. I can't help but think about all the other talented girls that didn't get picked. I hope they reach their own success whether in this industry or somewhere else.
