Melbourne's Shop Bao Ngoc | Doing It Different

Shop Bao Ngoc is “open when we feel like it”. After capitalism burnout waged a war on her capacity to deliver food as a tool of community care and connection, chef-owner Ngọc Trần simply turned the restaurant into a community space.
Outside, a “take what you need” fridge stands, which was stocked with meals throughout lockdowns, inside, a welcoming, cozy shop covered in anti-capitalist graffiti, where giant pho pots bubble, that hosts everything from workshops to fundraisers, BBQs and music events.

But how? This gives no explanation of how she transitioned into a community space financially, or how it actually works now? What community events does she host? is it a 'pay what you feel' system overall or are there normal consumer pricing inside with a daily seasonal menu like plenty of other restaurants that also donate extra stock on hand to local community organizations?

there's a interview ish thing on 3cr radio Hong kongology and they go into it a little bit there. but i also don't think anyone owes anyone to explain how exactly they got to the place they got to :))
