Awesome video. So glad Spock’s eyes 👀 are okay. You are An awesome dad and I’m sure Spock thanks you. We recently spent $580 on our Weimaraner and although she had a reaction to the pain med so the vet to do X-rays on Sadie’s knees and back she is a healthy 12 yr old.

I’ve been following you for awhile and always enjoy your advice and insight about reefing. After seeing this video you’ve proven what an amazing and compassionate person you are. Thank you so much for your dedication to Spock’s health and for showing other reefers that veterinary care for fish is a very real option and should be pursued when there are problems that persist. If someone reading doesn’t have a veterinarian who specializes in fish nearby, many veterinarians can assist remotely or collaborate with a veterinarian in the local area. I work at a veterinary hospital that does a lot of exotics and they sometimes reach out to colleagues with different specialties to get the best answers for a particular species. I have a yellow tang that almost died from an infection that went septic & thanks to my vet he is alive and doing great. Don’t listen to the people who gloat about saving their money, etc...you did the right thing. I can’t say thank you enough for sharing this video.

Spock is and has received the best care possible. The vet did a great job in handling her with care. Hopefully the water changes along with the parameters being stable as they are will help her eyes.

Glad to see you care enough for the fish to call in an expert and that there are experts around, even if few and far between. I could help dig the audio out further from the noise, or at least expand/correct the current subtitles if preferred though the general message comes across about the same anyways. I like you edited videos a lot more than the typical livestream, though the much larger quantity of content is a definite plus to them and yes they are good too.

That’s really fascinating... I’ve always wondered if there’s a vet who specializes in fish willing to consult in person.👩🏼⚕️. The uv light is commonly referred to as a blacklight. Medical docs use it with fluorescein, a chemical that helps illuminate damaged tissue under uv light.

Great video Marc. I have to agree with the vet, you should wear gloves when working on your tanks. I actually got a M. marinum (fish TB) bacterial infection from not wearing gloves while working at my LFS part time.

After hearing how much Spocks checkup was I dont feel so uncomfortable about spending at least a 100$ curing one perculas worm infestation,it was my first fish surgery, the first of many. That is 100$ in middle 1960s.And got my meds at a discount from Scripps in Calif.,where I lived at that time.Stay well and be kind to one another, peace out, Doc BC

He's paying for the thousands of hours of the vet's education and experience, along with the 3 hours of actual time spent examining Spock without harming her. Melev's fortunate that there aren't any serious underlying issues with the eye that would warrant amputation or some other corrective surgery, but be wouldn't know that unless he had Spock checked out. Of course he could have opted to leave it alone and hope for the best, as most would do, but if you want serious vet care, you're gonna pay for it. What a senseless comment.
