One thing that struck me is how Melissa Leo looked genuinely shocked when Mr. Douglas announced her name. Although she did campaign for an Oscar, I really believe she wasn't expecting one, and that is why she was so nervous. I remember watching this live and thinking this whole thing was ridiculous, from Kirk Douglas taking too long to Melissa's speech where her f-bomb seemed pre-planned. You can tell Helena Carter was aggravated during the whole thing. But re-watching this, Kirk Douglas was the funniest thing that happened during these Oscars. Him disregarding the envelope and then the 'ya know' always gets me. But this was also the year James Franco and Anne Hathaway hosted the show so it wasn't hard to steal the show
