Melissa is so pretty and down to earth and relatable! I really appreciate her advice. The women in my family would never share their beauty secrets or sit down and talk plainly to advise each other. It's so sad how some women want to hold others down. But Melissa builds them up and her kindness radiates and makes her even more beautiful! God bless!

Loved this Melissa, thank you for sharing a little about yourself. You always look gorgeous and very sassy in your off the shoulder tops. I reckon you started the fashion trend. After seeing it on you I swear suddenly everyone else was wearing them too lol!! I agree with you, I think we should wear what makes us feel vibrant and fabulous about ourselves. You always look so beautiful, your clothes, your hair & makeup. I love that you inspire the rest of us women to not give up because we are of an older age!! It's not easy getting older. Sometimes I look at myself in the mirror and think where has that young women gone, the years just flew by so quickly. But I am encouraged by women like yourself to keep going and stay positive and do the best with who I am now. Even though we may not be young anymore, that does not mean we cannot still be beautiful (inside and out). Thank you so much for being such a wonderful inspiration and a wonderful person. Oh and Sundays with your family are such treasured times. (Sorry for writing such a lengthy comment. I'm just hopeless at keeping them short when I'm talking to you lol!). Have a great week. Lots of love & hugs to you xx

You are such a kind person, Tee! You will never know how much I cherish you and your friendship. I mean truly if you knew how unexciting my life was, you might change your feelings. But I have learned so much from everyone here and I feel it's made me a better person getting to know everyone here. It really does make growing older a better experience. Thank you so much for your openness and willingness to share... Always an inspiration, you are! Listening to you Inspires me to enjoy my family more with shared mealtimes (I have a 41 year old daughter now living in France and a 37 year old daughter with her family living in Phoenix) so only one son here in Minnesota with wife and almost 2 grandsons. We now do Sunday dinner, and I think of you each week that we do it. I too LOVED dancing and wanted to be a Rockette, but at 5'6 learned that wasn't going to be possible, so then I wanted to be a go go dancer like Goldie Hawn! Haha.. Next best thing was when my son played in a rock band for 10 years, LOTS of dancing queen moments for me! You are a true joy to watch, in good times and bad. Because when the "bad" happens, you often find the humor or share such loving compassion! Love and adore you, truly!

I like how you embrace your age and support other women through the aging process. It's very needed in this day and age. I'm also happy to see you still have long hair. So many people believe that once you turn 50-60 you should cut your hair and look like a little old lady. (I refuse!). I enjoy the fact also that you buy AFFORDABLE clothing, and don't overdo it I absolutely love LisaLisaD but her clothing isn't affordable for a lot of us. (Shoes and purses especially). Great video Melissa! Nice to hear about yourself and family. I agree too about the sassiness, just because we get over 60yrs of age does not mean we have to wear "old lady clothes" I love wearing my sexy tops and cute skirts. I like to feel always feel pretty and very much a lady. Have a blessed week.

Thank you so very much, Claire! Yes, you are exactly right. I do think it's important that we feel vital and pretty especially as we age. It gives us courage and hope, I think. Thank you so very much. Love, Melissa

Wonderful to see you, Melissa! I do remember your SIL & still laugh when I leaf through his book. A great sense of humor is always a blessing! Since I've been with you from the very start, I knew many of these answers but appreciated the refresher. One thing I know you're a stickler on is the ingredient deck in products you use on your skin - I'm speaking of the gluten connection. Maybe that would be a good topic in the future. Waving hello to Doug & Oliver & the kitty. Blessings! Jackie in NY state

That really touches my heart. Truly. I really wonder lots of times what I think I'm doing putting videos on KZbin. When I think about it it always seems so odd to me. Not many people I know realize I do and if they find out, they just look at me and go "really", like I'm an alien or something. So lovely to see you Melissa! I love you in that color and your Tom Ford lipstick is so pretty. I loved your answers to the questions...I have a few questions but I will hold off!!! Ok maybe just one.., I have always wanted to ask you...we are the same age and I wonder if you feel that all of a sudden in your 60's it feels like more of a "fight" to look our best? I ask because I have felt that for the first time it's not just the physical challenge of looking my best but in my head...I try now to " think young". It's hard for me to put this question into words. Living in my 60's everything feels " new" but a bit harder....My love to you and yours and thank you for another lovely video full of great information xxoo Susan ( no Oliver!..give him pet for me and Coops)

Susan, I am 62 and I do feel I really want at this age to look and feel as good as I can. It didn't hit me when I turned 60, it kind of crept up on me it seems, My 30's,40's,50's I didn't think anything about it. Just the last 18 months or so I have tried to take better care of myself and want to be the best of all I can be.

LittlePoet I completely understand what you're asking. Age has never bothered me at all!!! However, when I turned 60 it seems that all of a sudden I had these "old age" issues that either I didn't notice before or everything just caught up with me all of a sudden.. It's been very strange!! Thank goodness for the wonderful women on KZbin who have shared so many tips!!! Sue

LittlePoet : wait till you are coming on to 70!!!!! Yikes I can't even say it .... can still pass for 50 and no one believes me )!!!!! BUT just sayin it is a mental bummer ! I'm going down fighting !!!! Being married to someone younger helps too !!!!! Haha
@Melissa557 жыл бұрын
aw, thank you so much, Susan!!! It's so wonderful to see you. That is a very interesting observation. And this is what I've noticed, so see if it jives with what you think. I am conscious and mindful of everything now - more so than before. So I'm mindful of not falling. Of not breaking a hip. Of speaking clearly and coherently to my children so Mom doesn't seem to be losing her marbles. To forming my sentences well so it doesn't seem like I'm getting dementia. To trying to never complain so I'm not the complaining mother everyone avoids. So I feel for sure that I'm trying harder in most things I do. I also feel a pressure in my marriage to try to do everything to keep Doug from leaving me. He does not make me feel that way but my father left my mother like that so a part of me just knows it's going to happen to me. So I find myself trying to be perky and witty and appealing to him. Sorry to write a novel. It's just so interesting to think about! Thank you more than I can say. Love, Melissa

Hi Melissa! I really enjoyed this. I love listening to you. I think those off the shoulder tops are beautiful on you and I agree with you about that part of a woman's body being very pretty. I remembered that you had said before that you had wanted to be a Rockette. My daughter went to see them in NY before Christmas and she was thrilled by their energy and agility. I thought of you Melissa. When she came home for the holidays, she brought a Rockette decoration for the tree. Thanks for posting this video... I have long hair at 50, and I really have noticed as of late that I need some softness around my face like you have, so I'm going to show this to my hairdresser. 😉 I'm Gluten and dairy free for over 10 years, now. Ive also given up soft drinks and artificial sweeteners. I don't miss many of the foods I've had to give up, either.... and to be honest, I really don't eat many of the gluten free substitutes very often, but every so now and then, I REALLY appreciate restaurants that serve gluten free hamburgers and fries. 😊

Hi Melissa, I've been using Shea Moisture for my hair and it has helped it get healthier and grow. I use the shampoo and conditioner and they have leave in treatments. Elle for Living loves it too. My hair was losing a lot of hair and drying my hair out from OGX products. I also have color treated hair, blonde highlights and low lights. I have frizzy, natural curly hair and oh I'm 55 and went through menopause 10 years ago, just so you know how dry my hair must of been. I swear by there shampoos and conditioners, so you have variety, they even have a clarifying shampoo. I just put the link to the strengthen grow and restore shampoo. There is a conditioner to go with it. They are all natural, cruelty free, there are a lot of things they don't put in their products. I think you will love it as much as I do. I do not work for them, I'm just a big fan of their products. I love their scrubs, body washes. My skin is not dry and flaky anymore with religiously using the body wash. o.k. I'll stop my sales pitch. lol Thanks for the video and you always look so pretty and your clothes are stylish. You could pass for 40 easily. In fact, I am still amazed you are in your 60's. take care. www.sheamoisture.com/jamaican-black-castor-oil-strengthen-grow-restore-shampoo.html

I bought the leave in that was in the jar, but keep forgetting to use it, but hearing you talk about it I'm going to get it back out again. I really think the one you use would work well for me, too. It sounds like we have very similar types of hair. Is it heavy? My problem is things weigh me down so easily and then my hair looks all plastered to my head. But I really am loving how Elle's hair is looking. It really looks thick and healthy. And you don't know how much I appreciate you giving me the heads up on these products. It's how I learn and grow. And other people see them and they learn new things, too. It's what I love about the give and take we all have on here. There is not a video that goes by that I don't learn something new. I'm going to try this. Thank you, Kathy! Love, Melissa
@kathyprice16747 жыл бұрын
your so sweet Melissa. It does not weigh your hair down, because I don't want that either. Yes, Elle's hair does look healthy and thick and mine is getting to the thick part. i was really wondering prior to using the Shea Moisture, how much more hair I was going to loose and found out it was the OGX . I was using. I had a lot of hair in the my brush. Since stopping the OGX my hair is so much better. I have baby hairs on my forehead hairline, which I didn't have before I started using the Shea Moisture. You can't tell I love this line can you? lol Take care, hugs 2 you.
@Melissa557 жыл бұрын
I just bought the shampoo and conditioner but haven't tried it yet. Now that is interesting that the OGX was causing that. Elle uses that one in the jar daily and says it doesn't make her hair weighed down at all. I'm excited to try all of them! Thank you for the heads up. Love, Melissa
@kathyprice16747 жыл бұрын
yes, Elle uses the Shea Moisture in the jar. It doesn't weigh my hair down either. The OGX was causing a build up of product on my hair weighing it down and damaging it. Another You Tuber did a video on it because her hair dresser told her that the OGX was building up on her hair. Elle stopped the OGX products. or at least that's the impression I got from her empties video or was it a favorite. can't remember. I the hair products and the scrubs, body wash in the hibiscus/coconut. since using the body wash, my skin is not drying out anymore like it use to. I buy their hand soaps. This is my favorite brand and they are all natural, cruelty free. you can tell I am hooked. I have my daughter using the face mask in the black jar for acne prone skin. Thanks Melissa, I hope you love them as much as I do. I should work for Shea Moisture. lol
