It's weird to hear famous, successful people saying things like "I hate myself." It makes me feel even worse, like maybe poisonous self-loathing isn't that big an obstacle after all. Maybe I really do suck. Just being stupid I know...

I dunno. To me it reminds me that they're just as human as me, and such things haven't gotten to their head

I feel like that's the wrong way to take it. If anything, it just shows everyone deals with these thoughts. Honestly, if you got those kinds of thoughts, might be worth finding a professional to talk to, but like, that constant self-deprecating language is an easy place to get stuck in. At the very least, don't live your life trying to meet what others see as "successful", just do what you enjoy and have an open mind.

Everyone is their own greatest enemy and imposter-syndrome’s one hell of a thing.

success doesn't stop those feeling at all, usually people just get better at masking it. Its so prevalent among successful people its got its own name of Imposter Syndrome. Streamers also spend a lot of time in a parasocial setting behind a screen talking to text messages, and a lot of the more famous streamers didn't necessarily come from successful or related backgrounds, they were good at talking to a screen and the twitch/youtube RNG was favorable that they picked up steam. Its easy to carry self-doubt into a situation like that and then just not get it worked on.

She met Buff Henya (Oscar) in person? I wonder if that was out on the con floor, or behind closed doors. Maybe at the mixer? I didn’t think Mel was comfortable with mingling with the fans in person
