What makes this even more sinister is that Miquella has cast aside his ability to feel love. You encounter his Cross in the St. Trina cave mentioning this, and a nearby spirit says that this is a step too far for Miquella. Even St. Trina begs you not to let miquella ascend. Kind Miquella is not going to start an Age of Compassion but rather an Age of Control. Everyone loves him, but he loves no one.

Miquella is perhaps physically and mentally closest to Marika. Marika manipulated many people for her purpose and discarded them when they are no longer useful for her goals, Miquella doesn't seem to be very different from his mother in that sense. St. Trina, Radahn, Mohg and Malenia prove Miquella's mischief. What Miquella was doing in the Land of Shadow was practically the same as what Marika did in Lands Between.

I agree but I have a different view: Miquella is what TV Tropes calls a “Well-Intentioned Extremist”. He genuinely believes what he’s doing is for the greater good, that the ends justify the means. I don’t think Miquella is as selfish as his mother, but it is incredibly ironic how the demigod trying to make a better world free from the Golden Order’s prejudices uses the exact same methods as Marika.

@@chriscortez2036 i agree, but it seems to me is that Miquella can't really understand the true concept of kindness and love, he wears the mask of compassion because he believes he will subjugate the world through worship, it reminds me the Griffith's logic(from Berserk). Miquella's childlike representation is not a coincidence. Miquella is just a deluded person who followed in the same footsteps as his mother, Marika probably established the Golden Order with the best intentions. So it seems to me that Miquella will really be the closest to Marika, but as we know the hunger for power can corrupt any well-intentioned mind. I'm curious to see the relation between Tarnished and Godwyn, it's just speculation, but it's something that could make sense in the lore.

And that was in the base game it was pretty clear mohg was influenced either intentionally or unintentionally by miquella. But now everyone decides to apologize to mohg, better late than never I guess.

There's actually an item to become immune to his charm (I'm assuming at least) if you defeat the Scadutree Avatar you get Miquella's Great Rune which states that though it is destroyed, it only has the mere power to dispel charms or something along the line. Having it in your great rune slot or just having the item would probably make you immune to that attack.

@@ronuspawnus I used the item after he grabbed me, no dialogue change as far as I can tell. The crown you get after being embraced may act as a countdown that you have to deactivate with the rune (that you use like Mogh's shackles if you will). Hope that helped !

There have been Datamined Voicelines from Miquella where he seems to usher in his Age Of Compassion, giving the same voices lines as Ranni did. “I swear to every living being and every living soul..” and the last few seconds of The Trailer were confirmed by Miyazaki to be a seperate cutscene from any that we’ve seen so far. @@CreativeUsernameEh Oh please, don't act as if people dying is suddenly something that's a big deal, especially involving something as shady as the Greater Will and the Golden Order (and ESPECIALLY Marika). Her main target was Godwyn to get rid of her body with the rune of death without destroying her soul. Everything else that happened was on the other demigods and other big players of the war. Miquella meanwhile straight up uses his power to charm his followers to do what he wishes, even if his intentions are ultimately benevolent like Ranni's. Don't be a baby about it now. EDIT: Also worth noting that Ranni has very few followers to begin with. Makes her desire to walk down her path alone more legit than looking like she's about to start another religion or cult like some of the other demigods.

Ranni gave her own brother a fate worse than death and caused the Shattering for her own benefit. While Miquella manipulates people, we have ample evidence that he does have compassion for the people suffering as seen from the albinaurics and Malenia herself who wouldn't have survived for as long as she did if it wasn't for Miquella's unalloyed gold. Also why are we pretending like Mogh is a good guy all of the sudden? He was still a monster that kidnapped people and turned them into bloody fingers for the Formless mother, Miquella's obsession aside.

@@raziel6304 There's also evidence to suggest that Marika was involved with the start of the shattering as well seeing as she started harbouring doubts in the Greater Will and Golden Order. There was no need to kick out Godfrey and have Radagon leave Rennala for her, yet she did it anyway. It's almost as if she wanted to shatter the Elden Ring and wanted an excuse to do it. Don't put the entire blame on Ranni for how screwed in the head the Golden Order and Marika were. It also makes sense to go after Godwyn since, for all Ranni cares, he's going to be the first in line to go against whoever wants to fight the Golden Order. I also doupt that they have any emotional ties or bond to each other considering being different families (although connected by blood). Not to mention that Ranni is very much capable of forming bonds and relationships too as seen with Blaidd and Iji and her last mention of them to you were to tell them that she loves them before killing her 2 fingers. With the context of the DLC (and other base game evidence that foreshadows Miquella to be the most terrifying Empyrean because of how he charms people), it's VERY questionable if a lot of the things Miquella did were entirely of his good will. Sure, he stalled Malenia's rot, but we can't exactly be sure if this was entirely for her sake or if he wanted to use her to weaken Radahn ahead of time. And I...never mentioned Mogh? How is he suddenly brought up in all of this? I never mentioned Mogh to be a good guy anywhere, he's still.... questionable and evil. But considering what happens to his body, it's easy to suggest Mogh was a part of Miquella's plan to, so as much of a vile person Mogh became, he's still a victim of Miquella all the same. (And let's not forget Radahn.... who's soul was stuffed into Mogh's body)

Now that I think about it, the only way you could *_probably_* prevent that attack (other than dodging) is using Miquella’s rune from the Scadutree Avatar. It’s said to resist charm despite its lack of power, but it might be what’s necessary here. Kind of like the Blasphemous Claw with Maliketh. I will test this out later. (It will probably have to be used before the fight, or after receiving the debuff)

He originally *was* very sweet, but if you go in Saint Trina's cave you can find he left behind *every* part of himself to become an all powerful god. This includes his heart, and therefore his ability to truly feel compassion. Miquella *does* have absolutely good intentions, he just is willing to do *anything* to accomplish that.

The base game already gave strong hints that Miquella is a manipulative asshole. A well-intentioned manipulative asshole, but still. There's this item called the Bewitching Branch that you can use to mind-control enemies and make them fight for you; the description suggests that the technique was developed by Miquella who has "learned very well how to compel such affection". Compelling people to love you is a scary thing for a demigod to do.
