PURE SKILL! Love these old videos and its awesome to see how far youve come and its fun to wonder what youll do next 🤔😂 Bigger furnace. Bigger ingots. New designs. Maybe even make screens to replace the ones you melted 😂 Possibilities are endless.

That first brass heart looks perfect mate! Looked like fun working with that torch. 👍🏻 amd suddenly aluminium looks a lot more difficult. Looked not so watery...

Do you suppose that small amounts of brass or copper could be melted with a torch directly in the mold- without use of a crucible?
@bigstackD2 жыл бұрын
Yes it would be very easy to do but with such high temperatures it would dramatically reduce the life of the mold. That’s why we don’t put graphite molds inside the furnace as they will break down way too fast in those extreme temperatures and you would probably shorten the life of the mold by about 90%👍🏻

Very nice video, but can you tell me how much Aluminium I can melt with propane-butane torch without foundry ?
@joshuadavis29655 жыл бұрын
I like how small the metals are u are working with in this vid. I think i will try to melt and pour some in a bucket of water so i can easily get that 1% 5% 5% for the Nordic Gold. I can do the 89% copper no problem

Cool buddy just be careful and remember safety first have fun 😁👍🏻

Do you know if altitude has an effect on melting times? Obviously at very high alt. It would but what would 4000ft effect?
@bigstackD4 жыл бұрын
Matey I have absolutely no idea although I wouldn’t think it would because the inside of the furnace has its own atmosphere and at those temperatures I doubt the thinner oxygen would be a problem you would just have to open the choke up a bit more to let a bit more oxygen into the furnace👌🏻.

Can you do a video showing what happens when you pour different metals on different items. Like what happens

What brand and model torch? I was using a bernzomatic 8000 and using brass shavings and my brass won't liquify

Hello, Great video! I was wondering which type of propane tank you used? Do you have a name or brand I can look up? Thank you!
@chriskeegan29065 жыл бұрын
Hey, could I bother you to inform us how many oz. of brass was contained in those 2 hearts (my guess is 4-6oz.), how much propane did it take to melt that much brass, were you using any oxygen, and what type of torch is that. Many thanks.

What is your mold made of? Is it something that could easily be customized?
@bigstackD5 жыл бұрын
Yes mate it’s a graphite block with a heart shape engraved in it, you can buy graphite blocks off eBay and if you have a Dremel or a Drill Press you can grind out different shapes or make a personalise coin mold 👌🏻😁
@bluefernlove5 жыл бұрын
Did you use any sort of flux with the aluminium? I've heard borax will make it oxidize and light salt should be used instead. Haven't tried it though.

Hey dear ,could i use my map pro gas to melt the brass too? .Thanks alot great vid.
@bigstackD7 жыл бұрын
I Couldn’t see why not that should get just as hot if not hotter although it is almost impossible to melt large brass pieces With handheld gas bottles but smaller ones can be done although it will take time👍🏻

I see well i want to melt small amount for my jewelry casting , has a little amount of money to spend so if you dont mind, could you give me yourr best torch advice that would get the job done. with minimal stress thanks alot.

When you cast hearts in lead, will it be hard bend it? i have a lots of lead and im thinking i will try to make some stuff out off it :)
@bigstackD6 жыл бұрын
Nah mate these particular hearts are thick enough so you won’t bend them by hand but maybe you could twist them a tiny bit with 2 pairs of pliers 👍🏻
@simsesworkshop15466 жыл бұрын
Ok thanks for your reply !😀👍
@bigstackD6 жыл бұрын
No worries mate . I don’t recommend touching lead too much and always wash your hands b4 touching food or your face after handling the lead. But I can’t really say much as I started making lead into stuff b4 I progressed to brass n aluminium. Good luck mate and always preheat your molds also make sure any lead you add to the already molten lead is free from any moisture or you’ll very quickly experience a steam explosion. Sorry if I sound like a teacher but I have a lot of younger viewers watch my channel 😁
