Booker, Dunn and Cropper- lets face it, these guys are what the Webster Dictionary had in mind when it described "cool". This is the greatest instrumental band ever.

Nothing better than Booker, Cropper, & Duck! I must say that Danny Gottlieb does a fine job filling the huge shoes of the late Al Jackson, Jr,..

I don't know why Steve Cropper is so under rated. He's as good as Cray and Clapton, and he was in the Blues Brothers movie. Or maybe he is famous and he just flew under my radar all this time. I loved Booker T since I was a kid and just now realized he was in the BB movie from 1980-maybe I'm behind the times.

When I put this tune on (a lot) my hands start atapping, my foot starts bouncing and my heart starts pumping. One of the most rhythmic tunes every created no doubt!! Im going to listen to it again. And maybe again after that!

this has always been one of my favorites by the MG's. i love the way that they loosened up and strayed away from the basic groove of the original recording to interject some new riffs to this tune. can't beat that STAX funk groove!

He and his band performed this last night in the 2018-19 current tour. This band is good but last night’s band was totally awesome. The addition of his SON, Ted Jones, on lead guitar was the missing ingredient. Ted is also a musical genius, having grown up in a musical family, and he and his father have an amazing musical and symbiotic relationship. Booker said he wrote it after he moved to NYC and boy was it ever NYC!!i It started out as a NYC morning, got busier and hotter as the day came in, and subways all steaming; the solos were very rock and roll. Ted Jones is a master. Heavy base themes laid down by Lawrence Shaw and drumming by Neal Daniels all rose to the occasion and rocketed this out of the sky. Nothing like the track you hear here. The back screen went through colors that reflected the time of day too, with the day starting out cool then getting busies and hotter. Like you just WANTED to get to work!! The latest evolution speaks of Jones’ mastery and musicality. I wish he had a live in concert album.
@McGarVision5 жыл бұрын
I'm sure it was good, but Steve Cropper is an all time legend, and some say the 2nd or 3rd greatest guitarist who ever lived. No offense to junior Jones, but Steve --not TED--has always been the magic ingredient for Booker T and the MGs

Wish the description listed who the players are. First time seeing this and love it. Looked up the band and found Wikipedia entry , but see there's a list of members and past so unsure about the lineup in the video. Anybody happen to have a list of who's all in this video and who's playing what ? Thanks so much. Great video and new band for me to investigate and learn about!! Thanks

This was recorded in Cannes during that years film festival. They played to an all-too- mellow crowd. The audience was comprised of a bunch of uptight international film jerk-offs who sat on their asses all night. They should have filmed this in Paris proper where they are truly appreciated . VIVA LA STAX!!!!!!!!.
