My 2nd great grandmother was Odilia Maxwell Abreu. Family lore says it wasn’t Billy the Kid that Pat Garret shot that night. It’s said he escaped and went to old Mexico, lived out his last days in Hamilton and Hico, Texas

My Uncle told me when he was a kid about 7 yrs old his Uncle Jim Gililland brought Billy to the ranch and he stayed a few days with them which would have been about 1936 , my Uncle stated they took him to Nogales and dropped him off , a few months later they went back to Nogales to pick up some goats they bought and my uncle said his dad took them to the ice cream parlor and as they were going in they met Billy on the sidewalk , he stated that was the last to he saw him . Pat Garret chased my great uncle Jim and Oliver they had a shoot out with him and wound up on trial for murdering Fontain and his son Henry. Jim and Oliver were acquitted of the murders !

I like Mr. Valdez's passion. I just wish he didn't keep Brushy Bill pushed down. He may have been poor for the most part. In the end, He was buried respectfully, in a nice suit, and had a nice casket, and a nice plot of ground. Paid for by his oil rich friend from Tyler. Hardly a Poor man's Death. He ended up being Blessed... Being the 1950's, and 90 yrs. old, he did just fine !

Garret also wanted the reward. Without killing his friend.

I have a photo from that era. That really looks like Billy the kid. It has been largely overlooked. Garret did not kill Billy. They were like big casino and little casino. I think Garret had to cover up the killing. By claiming it was the Kid. They buried a Billy. Not the Billy. I have researched this. Like Bob Ford wanted the noteriety. Yet, this was not Billy. Only problem I have is, I don't know how to disclose it. And also the " providance" issue. I don't care about facial recognition. Brushy Bill was not the same man. The man has the exact very features of Billy. Yet it may be a different form. Not a tin-type , but the card form of photography. The same used from 1850s- 1890s. Anyway I may be holding a gold mine on my hands. He also used another alias. Oh it was called a cabinet card. Same ears , hair ,chin, nose. eyes

Whether Mr. Hailey is right or wrong, I firmly believe that his Word and Handshake are far more Firm than practically any 200 page "Written Contract" will ever be.

I always knew the truth would come out about Billy. I knew in my heart that man didn't die in 1881. I guess these towns and counties need to keep their lies going to attract tourist to there locations. Like this man said, it's all about money.

Anyway disclosere? Like Garret , I woud need some kind of reward as well. Why else do it? I could easily trip some statements by giving any hints. So, I have to be careful. Being a portrait artist, I see things. And so far, none of these photos they mention are not Billy. Only wanna bees. Except for the Meltzer Decoded: shows of the DB Cooper FBI sketch. It looks like the same man exactly. I do believe this is one and the same man. I enjoyed your show.

I’ve been to Lincoln and you get a feeling there in the courthouse where real events took place, and where Billy and a few escaped the McSween house fire and gunfire through the creek on the opposite side of the road. Not so much at the supposed grave site in Fort Sumner.
