The fact that this video didn't start with "Bye everyone!" and end with "What's up guys!" is almost unforgivable.

For anyone interested, the DVD version with all of the easter eggs that Tim was referring to is the 2 disc special edition where the packaging is made to look like Leonard's psychological case file. One of the coolest dvds I've ever owned, back when special edition actually meant something. After a quick search, it looks like used copies are still obtainable and not super expensive.

I remember reading about this movie in the L.A. Times 2001 "Big List" that previewed every theatrical release that year (in print!), and knew right away I was going to love it just by the photo of Guy Pearce holding up the Polaroid of the car for Teddy to see. I'm not sure if anyone knew about the backwards timeline at that point, but a guy with short-term memory loss trying to solve his wife's murder? That alone sounded really cool. And then when the gimmick was revealed, it was so unlike anything else at the time. I once had a desire to write movies of my own someday, and Memento was the sort of movie I wish I could've come up with. Nolan gets some flack nowadays, but at that time for 19-year-old me (I'm old, but still not as old as Nick!) there wasn't a more imaginative filmmaker that Christopher Nolan. I wanted to see everything the man did after this, and when he got Batman I was so excited. Inception might be my favorite movie of his because I really love the aesthetic of the whole thing, but watching this again over the weekend made me remember that THIS movie is why I'm such a fan of his even if his track record isn't perfect. I don't think he'll ever do another movie with a budget less than $150 million now., but I'd love to see him try it. Whether it cost $9 million or $165 like Interstellar, I always see similarities (which is why so many people are convinced Tenet is a stealth Inception sequel).

I saw this movie in theaters when I was 16 and loved it. Had obviously no idea who Christopher Nolan was back then and only saw it because my girlfriend at the time wanted to see it. Glad she dragged me in there. I don't think Following was released theatrically where I live, so I can say I saw Nolans first theatrical released movie in a theater.

It was interesting to not really have a plot section in this episode although it is sad that that seems to significantly reduce the length of the video. Would have loved another hour or so in such an in depth movie. Regardless keep up the great work guys, with the two most rewarding in reviews so far. :)

Nick is right. In my opinion if a plot hole is glaring enough that it gets in the way of the story telling or pacing it is worth discussing. But you can have a great movie that has "plot holes." The "Everything Wrong With..." review culture has taught people to throw a whole movie out the window if they can "poke holes in the plot." It is an epidemic and its the killer of fun movie discussion. Facts: Most scripts, even the best ones, will not hold up to someone examining every single particle of the story letter for letter. Movies are about the pacing, the story telling, the editing, the images, the acting, and the sound/score and how it all comes together to make magic. You can learn through dissecting a movie, you do not have to like every movie by any means, but you can learn something through every movie. Critiquing does not have be angry or dismissive. You can not like something and still respect it and its creators. You can discuss movies for hours about their merits with friends that's what makes it fun! But when you try to take the "everything wrong with..." approach to reviewing, and nit pick everything you see like you think you are smart you lose the magic of movies to begin with. None of the boys acted like this to be clear! You just see so many KZbin vids that lose the fun and discussion and focus on the "plot hole, hot take" culture.

I love in review and I love Greg’s way of the recap for these films. But tbh, I’d prefer a more serious, thorough moment to moment recap like things used to be. The Nolan films are hard to follow as is, but most of the time I have no clue what he’s talking about. That’s with love and respect, I hope this doesn’t come off as mean

This is the only Nolan movie I don’t like. It’s compelling, but some how manages to be boring at the same time. It’s textbook Nolan to the point that it’s just a twisty emotionless plot device. I’m not saying it’s bad. It just didn’t do it for me.
