Thank you for making this video! I have been looking into purchasing this curriculum for this coming school year. So happy to have found your channel. Do the maps in the teacher guide have answers printed on them?

ajpw2004 I believe the teacher’s guide had answers for map work but my guides are all packed up for our move so I am not able to double check that for you. You can contact Memoria Press just to be sure.😊

How often would you say you used them? For instance do you have your student do one chapter per week, twice a week?

It really depends on the child and their reading ability and interest. The years I have used the literature guides I have done the following for literature: I write out a list of books that are at my child's reading level and have them choose books from that list to read throughout the year. I also choose 2 literature guides. Each child has been different based on their reading ability, but I might require one child to read a total of 4 books each semester. Three of those books are their choice off of the list of books I wrote out and 1 book is using the literature guide. Same thing the second semester. One of my kids was a really slow reader so she did just 2 books a semester including the literature guide. Some of the literature guide novels have shorter chapters while others are really long so you just have to see what your child could realistically do in a weeks time. Might be one chapter or one chapter may take over a week to read and another week to do the guide. :)

Do you have any recommendations for British Literature? Not sure if this company offers that? Just curious as to what you have used for that?

I believe Memoria Press incorporates British literature into it's high school level courses. You'd have to double check. For my oldest, I used Cornerstone's Worldview curriculum for high school which covered a lot of subjects including history, literature, bible, philosophy/theology and more. www.cornerstonecurriculum.com/ BJU Press has a British literature course that I may use for some of my other children. {affiliate link} bit.ly/2N5ujmO I hope that helps you a bit. Perhaps others can comment with what they have used and loved.

How many of these would you have to do to fulfill a HS literature requirement? Are they each a 1/4 credit?
@JanelleKnutson
@JanelleKnutson 2 жыл бұрын
The Memoria Press website has each of their high school literature classes (that count for 1 credit) include 4 of these literature guides plus some poetry. Remember that many English courses for high school are 1 credit and cover literature and grammar/composition while some families choose to do 1 full year of literature plus a full year of composition OR incorporate the composition into the literature curriculum. I think you can easily make 4 of these literature guides into a full year (1 credit) literature and composition course. I believe most of (if not all of) the high school level guides include writing assignments in them. I hope that makes sense. :)

Janelle - what age student do you use these for?
@JanelleKnutson

I believe these literature guides that I shared in this video go with novels that would be read around 5th grade. Memoria Press has literature guides for 2nd grade on up. I've used many of them for various grades. They are all very similar in how they are set up.
