We have 2 trash cans 1 for trash and 1 for garden waste. We have to pay for a recycling trash can if we want otherwise they won't give you a recycling trash can. I love memory journaling. ❤ Great memory journal keeping! Thanks for sharing with us!

Hi Janet! I've received so many different answers to the trash can question from all over the world - it's super interesting. You are so lucky to have a recycling can! I sure miss mine - LOL - I didn't think I would ever say that I miss a trash can!!!! Now I have 3 bins in the pantry, one each for paper, glass and aluminum. It's a commitment to take everything to the recycle center. Hope you are doing well. I am still sitting with my mom and attending to her needs daily. Today is day 23 - she is continuing to recover in rehab. I am praying she regains her full strength so she can go back to her better life. Thank you for sharing and checking out the video. Hugs!

Hi Erica! Thank you for letting me know you only have one trash can too! I really had no idea that was even possible until we moved to TN. My hubby and I have a list going of about 60 things that we've learned/experienced since moving to TN. Hi there! I've received so many different answers to the trash can question from all over the world - it's super interesting. Do you have one trash can for recycling? Yard waste in brown paper bags - what do you do if you have giant branches and tree trunks? Our grass clippings stay on the grass - and that's most of what we have but as we have woods - we do get a lot of fallen tree limbs, and small trees in the storms here - that we have to burn. Hi, Rana! I love the cover of your journal! We have 2 trash cans. One for regular trash & one for paper/cardboard trash only. No plastic or glass. When we lived in Germany, we had to recycle everything as well as our food scraps in addition to trash. TFS xoxo 🤗💚

I live in WA state and we are just like CA, our garbage, recycle and yard waste are all in separate containers. I feel like it would take some time to get used to only one trash receptacle. You made such a fun and clever spread and you will always remember that transition every time you look through this book, so fun!

Hi Tammy! How interesting to know that WA is just like CA. I really do miss the recycling trash can! Who ever thought I would say I miss a trash can! In reality - I now have 1 big trash can and 3 recycling bins in my pantry - so I have to manage 4 things instead of the easy 3 we had in CA - but we believe in recycling. Hi Rena. We have 2 trashcans- 1 for trash and 1 for recycling. We can put yard waste in brown paper waste bags or compost it.

Hi Jenn! Thank you for sharing that you use 2 trash cans! You are so blessed to have a recycling can! I sure do miss that. We separate our recycling into the 3 categories that the recycling center takes and when the containers are full go to the recycling center. What a time saver it was to be able to put it in the can and have it picked up! I never thought I would be counting a trash can as a blessing but it sure was and I didn't even know it! I tried composting, I have a bin and everything, but I wasn't successful at it. I think I am going to empty it and try it again. Hi Rana! I hope you and your family are doing well . My son has 2 garbage cans, one for garbage and one for recyclables. A garbage truck with robotic arm comes that picks up garbage and recyclables. I have a transfer station where I take my garbage and pay by the bag and they have an area to drop off recyclables. Being by myself, I usually just have 1 bag of garbage, so it’s not too bad. My brother just has 1 can that everything goes into. Cool journal. 💕💕💕

Hi Cindy! Your son's home sounds very similar to what I had in CA. I have to say, I really miss the recycle can! Who would ever think that you could miss a trash can - LOL! It was so convenient to recycle - just put everything in there and off it goes. Now, while I only have 1 trash can, we still recycle and have bins for paper, glass and aluminum, which is what the recycling center accepts. It takes a lot more intentionality to recycle. I never heard of a transfer station. That's so interesting...It's good that you don't have too much trash. I've really found these answers to be so interesting! Hugs to you!

Love your journal. We were surprised when we moved here because we do not recycle at all. I always feel so guilty. We have one trash can. Yard waste is just placed on the side of the road in trash bags. Love your journal! ❤😊

Hi Barbara! I've received so many different answers to the trash can question from all over the world - it's super interesting. I've never heard of having to take your trash to a dumpster 6 miles away. I'm so glad you have a truck! We don't have a truck, but have said, we may need to get one to haul things. We never needed one in CA. I really miss my recycling can that was picked up - just place all the recycle items in one can and they sort it for you. Now I have 4 bins in my pantry for glass, aluminum and paper. They don't even have a place to recycle plastic outside of bottles here. Thank you for sharing and checking out the video. Hugs!

What an awesome idea! I'm going to do a journal for each state I visit. I currently live in SC (my home state) and we have 3 cans. Trash, recycling and yard waste. But we also burn too. Ive lived in CA and remember so well those stinky crv charges. I love this journal cover. Tfs❤

Hi Rana! Beautiful start to your journal!😊 We live in the country in Michigan. We don't use any trash service. We heat our home and burn our trash in a wood heater outside. We take recycling to the recycling center for plastic, glass, etc. I really don't like all the trash that goes to the landfill!😮

I never thought that not having trash service was even an option until my friend Dale told me that they don't have trash service. (I've got so much to learn!) That's amazing that you heat your home and burn your trash in a wood heater outside - does that get difficult when it snows? Where do you get all the wood to burn - do you have it in your yard or do you have to buy it? Really interesting to learn about these different things. Hi Rana We don't have trash pickup at our house we take our trash and recycling to the dump and you can burn here but there's too many trees to burn at our house so we don't burn. Hi Lorraine! I forgot to tell you that I mailed the gingerbread journal out to you last week - it should be arriving anytime now. I really hope you like it. I've received so many different answers to the trash can question from all over the world - it's super interesting. You don't have trash pick up? That's incredible. I never even thought that could be a thing until my friend Dale here in TN said she doesn't have trash pick up - that her hubby chooses to take it to the dump and burn instead of paying the fees. Do you have a truck? We don't have a truck so I am not sure what we would do with all our tree branches! We have 1,000 trees (lots of thin trunked trees) that are constantly getting damaged or falling down during all the storms we have - that' what we burn. My mom is slowly recovering. Hi Rana! What an interesting journal you're creating! Well, you know I live in Southern California. We have 3 trash cans for regular trash, recycling materials, and for the greens. Just 1 trash can will not suffice our needs. I totally believe in recycling. I don't understand why many states don't mandate recycling. We all need to contribute in any little way we can to conserve our country or earth for that matter and air. Burning your greens is contaminating the air! So why did you decide to move to Tennessee? Hi MJ! I am so glad you like this idea - I never thought I would journal about trash cans and trash but it was the first lesson we learned in TN! LOL! My husband and I have a list of about 50 things so far - so I thought I better get started! I've received so many different answers to the trash can question from all over the world - it's super interesting. I have to say, that I miss the recycling trash can the most - Never thought I would say I missed a trash can - but it takes a lot of intentionality to separate and go to the recycling center. So now I have 3 bins for aluminum, glass and plastic in the pantry. I believe in recycling too - but boy it was sure nice to just put it in the can and put it on the street once a week. We have two general and recycle. With curb pick up twice weekly. Trees we have to take to cite. Big change for you from California to Tennessee. We can’t do yard burn. Most of the time we’re on burn ban. tfs

Hi Rana💕 Here in New York we have a 5 cent tax on all bottles and cans and we take it to a recycle place to get money back. We do recycle cardboard and plastic items and they pick up with the trash. We do burn a lot of wood or fallen trees, we have a large burn pit. I don't think we have a limit on trash cans but I'm sure if it was excessive they would say something. We can't throw away carpet or electric items without a huge fee. Good luck with adjusting to the changes and thank you for sharing. 🤗Big hugs

Hi Celeste. Thank you for sharing how things work in NY - it sounds very similar to CA - with the exception of not being able to burn things. The burning is probably the thing that is the most difficult to adjust to - but since we have about an acre of woods, there are always trees losing limbs and skinny trees being knocked down - so there' always trees to burn. Hi Karen - I love that you get a trash can for recycling. I really miss that...it' means that I have 3 trash cans in the pantry for recycling (glass, paper, and aluminum)...That's great that you have a compost area. Our grass clippings stay on the grass - and act as mulch for our lawn = that's our biggest yard waste - but we do get fallen branches from the trees - and our woods had never been cleaned out - so we have quite a bit of thin trunked trees that are on the ground in there to clean up - so thus, our first "burn" we've had 4 since we moved here - Thanks for asking about my mom. She is continuing to improve slowly - she's still in rehab - it's hard to watch her struggle to do the things she used to do with ease. Thank you for your continued prayers. Hugs!

Hi Dale! I love that you have personalized trash service with your hubby! Until you shared that with me, it never occurred to me that someone wouldn't have trash service - LOL! Boy have I got a lot to learn still. Todd and I created our list and there are over 50 things that we have written down - LOL - that we learned that are different here in TN! And yes - who documents trash service as a memory? I know I am silly - but it really was the first lesson we learned - and boy were we scared to do the burn pile - that was our first one. Hugs!
