How can people say this is not Patti it's so clearly her - with all the little lupone-isms. The build up to 'Touch Me' is vintage Patti, especially the way she sings 'as the dawn is breaking' - no one else on the face of this earth would sing 'dawn' in the way that Patti does

Patti filled in for like one night in the tour of The Music of ALW in the early 90s, I think Sarah Brightman or Michael Crawford got sick or something. The Tell Me On A Sunday on YT is from the same. I have a tape somewhere that also has Anything But Lonely, I Don't Know How To Love Him and Take That Look Off Your Face.

Excellent rendition but I saw Betty Buckley sing live at the Winter Garden in late 1982. This does not compare to hearing Betty sing it live on stage. Her voice was so resonant and powerful,it seemed to cut through the air like a knife. I'll never forget that thrilling experience.

Gulp...gasp...goodness....that was terrific. With a clearer quality, minus that other singer, this would be a definitive version of the song. Amazing she wasn't asked to do this on Broadway right after her Evita triumph.

Tbh, I wouldn’t be surprised if she was asked and quickly declined. Even Buckley admits Grizzebella is a small part and only onstage for 13 minutes a show.

The next interviewer to talk to Ms. LuPone ought to ask about this video. This clearly is her or perhaps a gifted, unidentified impressionist (in which case brava to her!).

If this had been the first time I had heard this song I probably would have loved it. However it isn't and Betty Buckley has ruined it for all others who have come after her. No one can touch her vocals with this piece. Do love Patti Lupone too, though.

@@ELangsdon1989 correct. Circa 1992 there was a concert that Michael Crawford starred in called THE MUSIC OF ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER. for the NY performances at Radio City, the Unbeatable, phenomenal LAURIE BEECHMAN did Memory. But there was a portion of the tour that Sarah Brightman did with Michael (not in NY), Patti filled in to perform this number. It's not CATS. I'm a CATS expert on cast members. I'm a savant. Patti never did Cats. This has strings also, Cats only had cellos. And much more synthesizer. It is Patti. Anyone with half an ear can know it's her. Nobody scoops and yodels and slides like her.
