Thanks guys for more great memories. This is where my mum and dad first met and it’s a special place for our family and spent many weekends here. You can hire a boat and row so far down the river and if you are into golf Warkworth has a nice little golf course. The beaches are second to none and one can walk for miles along the beach. It’s not the best standing castle but never the less steeped in history. Cheers

You had me at 'rainy castle ruins'. I love that bridge, with the observation corners out of the main walkway. I visited England many years ago, coming from dry, hot, windy Southern California in the fall. All of the green and mossy brick/stone felt like a respite. Wet old stone has an interesting smell, different from cement or blacktop (tarmac). Smells like history. Cheers, guys!

I live in Warkworth, a pretty township in New Zealand. As in all New Zealand the history is young for the European settlers, Your Warkworth like all of the UK is much more involvedand deep in history. I can't trade with the UK WW I like the warmer climate but love all historic UK.

Thank you very much for the video. Just a question, the town of Warkworth looks nice, clean and prosperous. How is that possible? Do they live off the land? Does the town receive many tourists? I have just seen today some awful towns in the North East of England which never recovered from the closure of mines or shipyards and that left me a bit depressed, therefore to see a small but prosperous town like Warkworth surprised me. Regards.
@MemorySeekers5 ай бұрын
The main focus of the village will be tourism now and it does get busy. As you say many towns and villages have been unable to recover from industries that employed the entire local workforce. It appears that only the ones that have the ability to draw in tourists, like a castle or historic village have been able to reinvent themselves. Of course other factors like government investment, the closure of many of the railway networks to these sorts of places by beeching also play a role in they have not developed.
